Probably. They have put it on every PC release since AC2, so I don't see them stopping that trend.

No doubt, but seeing as the game will feature multiplayer which seems to be pretty core, that shouldn't really factor in it seeing as you will have to be online to play anyway.

Every? AC2 has been the ONLY AC release with DRM so far. Anyway, I'm leaving it well alone.

not really, just off the top of my head I can think of Silent Hunter V the very popular Uboat Sim having it as well. And its not the only other one...

ALL games from Ubi will have this horrid DRM. The first games were Assassins Creed 2 and Silent Assassin 5. ALL games released after those 2 have the horrid DRM. Just to clarify.

Exactly! Instead of fighting pirates, they fight the people who purchase their games ... Makes absolutely no sense at all.

It will end up only the legitimate buyers of the game will be affected by Ubi's DRM.

I pretty much avoid Ubi games

I estimate, that in approximately 1 year, all of Ubisofts games released on PC will require you to walk into the developers studios at Montreal and have you sit down in front on a PC to play there games, all under 24/7 surveillance. WinRAR!

Haha, yeah. It's like "So, enjoying one of our games are ya? Fine, then we'll hold you in this jail cell until you show us your customer receipt from the store."

Ubisoft will prove why treating your userbase like a bunch of criminals ultimately always backfires, so they might as well go all the way.

UBi aint the type of company to admit a mistake. Even if they didn't think it will help they would still put it on so it wouldn't show that they failed.

oops...I thought he meant AC games, because AC 1 didn't have the Ubishaft DRM. Settlers 7, Silent Hunter 5, the new PoP, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and AC2 all have it.

This ridiculous state of affairs has been made all the more sad by the fact that Ubisoft were one of the best devs/publishers for the PC not even a decade ago. I always found their games to be the most stable, most interesting and with the best production values. Heck, when I look at the older PoP titles, The Bard's Tale, the older Splinter Cell games, the Rayman games, they still run brilliantly and look and play great. They represented the best of European games development.

Now they're a disgrace to this continent. What went wrong?

Ubi really wants people to not buy their games right? Besides, what's the point of the DRM if hackers hacked it already(from what I've heard they have)?

I dont think the DRM will be such a sore point this time around since multiplayer is the core game play.. Also there is like a 15mb patch to remove their DRM if you really want to play their games offline. Cant really say more than that.

The only AC release, yes, but they've used the same DRM on Silent Hunter 5, Splinter Cell Conviction, The Settlers... They claim they will be using this DRM on all games going forward. Which is why I'm not buying Ubisoft games going forward, on any platform. And I thought limited online activations were bad. Figures it took Ubisoft to show me what bad DRM really is.

Or the fact they used a crack to fix rainbow six vegas 2 crashes, or that double agent was a terrible port, or many other problems. i have no respect to ubisoft anymore. What they fail to realize is that their games is the problem, they get from bad to worse and even less and less pc focused. Their games just dont sell on pc and thats it and i cant say they put much effort in their games. Its going from bad to worse, prince of persia and splinter cell series gone worse over the years with worse pc versions. Now they make a sequel to Graw 2 and completly change the game, way to go in ruining another franchise.

Well, warrior within had clearly a worse pc version than sands of time and two thrones was even worse, same thing goes for double agent. Then they decided to make repettive borring sandbox games and they blame piracy for their stupid choices. Thats what happen.

Yeah, they're actually one of my favourite publishers on the consoles, but on PC I mostly stay clear, unless if it's a bargain or a collection of old games (AoE I & II, Rayman, etc.).

i thought AC2 was a brilliant game. the DRM didn't give me many hiccups, i might add (i got it much later than release, though). i cannot speak for the other games as i haven't played them. will the DRM be still in effect while you play AC:B's multiplayer? since im assuming you would need to be connected to ubi's servers anyway. can anyone elaborate how the drm works in multiplayer and if it makes for a worse experience than it could in singleplayer?

In Far Cry 2 guard posts don't respawn, they just pop up if you look the other way for a splitsecond.

Ubisoft will focus on improving their DRM instead of improving the textures, shaders and performance of their PC games, as usual.:/

Not all of their pc ports are so good and you know it. PC version of Assasin creed 2 and Forgoten sands were good but Convcition sucked!

At lease they release 99% of their games on pc unlike some other companies like Konami Namco e.t.c. But the most serious problem here is their drm. many people dont want to buy their games due to their drm no matter who good the port is.

Don't take this the wrong way - no offence meant by this - but the fact that you (and others) tolerated other forms of DRM sent a clear message to publishers like Ubisoft that you were quite happy to take whatever was pushed your way. People went out and bought Half-Life 2, and suddenly all the publishers jumped onto the DRM bandwagon thinking that everyone was a sucker - perhaps they were right.

You know the expression, give someone a finger and they'll want the whole hand. When people showed they were willing to buy games with activation, EA and Ubisoft took it one step further by requiring a permanent connection. When people showed they were willing to buy games requiring a permanent connection, they started requiring people to download bits of the game at a time. Keep it up people - eventually you will have to phone Ubisoft on a premium phone number to ask permission to play at this rate.

I send my own message to publishers - I refuse to pay more than €10 for a DRM-contaminated game, and even though I circumvent DRM, I'm not a pirate. My last couple of full-price PC purchases have been DRM-free, and my full-price purchases will continue to be just that.
