reusable, assuming: 1.the case isthe size you will need for future mobo sizes 2. 500-600w of power doesn't become standard/obsolete 3. the psu doesn't burn out 4. it has the right hookups for future, undevelopedhardware
I tend to go in cycles - my old rig becomes a backup, and the old backup rig generally becomes spare parts. If you're on a tight budget, re-using an old case is always a viable option, and as long as the power supply is within spec for any new things that may have come about since you bought it, you'll be fine (an old 20-pin power supply, even if it were 600w isn't going to run any modern PCI-e-based gaming rig).
I try and find a case that will last me a long time or one I think will be a good upgrade for my parents current PC at a later date. Right now I am planning on handing my parents my Sonata II and plan on picking up a CM Stacker 832.
