Before the releas, there was talk about people playing on the pc, being able to play against PS3 owners. Did they ever impliment that, and if so, how do I do it?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
aw i thought this was gonna be a pc vs ps3 discussion.damn.
anyway i think they cancelled that pc vs ps3 online mode.i could be wrong and they may implement it later on.
[QUOTE="JP_Russell"]I can't see them ever doing that. Honestly, those poor PS3 players... they'd be massacred...Ps2stonyAnd the poor PC gamers who'll lag like hell.

At my friend's house cod4 PS3lags @$^%. On my PC, it's almostalways good. And I'd imagine it's much easier to ping between PCs than PSN.And the poor PC gamers who'll lag like hell.[QUOTE="Ps2stony"][QUOTE="JP_Russell"]I can't see them ever doing that. I'm sorry, did you miss out on Halo 2 PC and Shadowrun cross-platform?You obviously have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. For one thing, Halo 2 was NEVER cross-platform.
I can't see why they couldn't be cross-platform, the controller options are there (and PS3'ers can USB a mouse/keyboard up), and they're both running the Unreal3 engine.....and odds are they're both using the same network coding, just a matter of bridging the gaps.
Perhaps they will in the future in a patch when the PS3 can download custom maps/mods from servers.
Quite disappointing responses to be honest. I was expecting a little more mature folks but it seems it doesn't matter which gaming system you're on, stupidity and ignorance are always present.
Since I have both versions I can answer your question properly.
Unfortunately right now there is no cross-platform between the two systems. I'm not aware of why not but the only idea could be of the game speed.
PS3 version is about 20% slower then PC version and not as chaotic, but it has it moments. It's by no means slow. With My mouse and keyboard setup (I just unplug it from my PC) the controls are same. Except the game speed aiming feels natural as it should with KB and Mouse.
Sensitivity can be adjusted to very high settings, once you get a hang of it, it's quite brutal providing you are skilled enough to hit dodging target.
Both version are pretty much identical, only the 20% game speed adjustments. Maybe in future there will be a proper cross-played game where everyone can have fun.
It's up to developers.
I'll never understand the desire of some players to play unreal or CoD4 with a joypad. Why punish yourself? It feels and plays so unnatural. I am personally totally against multiplatform shooters or rts. When you design a shooter for a pc of course you know the player will have a mouse and keyboard so you adapt the game to it. On consoles that is not mandatory. Sou might and you might not have a mouse for a console so it is natural that the designers have to "hack" the game mechanics. zhivago_x
I don't understand you people. Maybe it's because I started gaming with consoles but the controller feels MUCH better to me. And when I took my first few steps into PC gaming it felt weird and impossible. Of course now I want M&K for shooting games but controllers still feel muchbetter for me. And I don't see how you could play a fighting game or a DMC kind of game with a M&K. But an fighting/adventure game for the PC with an map editor and MODswould kick ass so much.

So we do agree that playing a shooter with a joypad is like playing a fighting game with a keyboard.

But it could work. Halo succeed to be an effective gamepad shooter. The reason I don't think a fighting game could work is because of all the arrow keys you press while pressing another button. The Keyboard has many more buttons. It'll be different, but a fighting game designed for more buttons and less key combinations could work. I don't like Halo however.

True, if PS3 didn't had USB, Wireless or Blue-tooth support for any mouse or keyboard.
Which they do...do a little research before stating things wrong.

How would you know why they slowed down the game? Do you work for epic or friends with someone who does? Someone told me it was because of console limitations and it was also the reason they pulled the plug on cross platform play. Who to believe... (Not kidding, both you and the guy were just random people I saw here. :P )
