For the most part, Unreal Tournament 3 plays decent on my rig. But every like 5 seconds my system will lag. I'm not talking about on line, I mean off line play. I have all the settings set to low. I don't know where the bottleneck is coming from. Originally I though it might be my Hard drive, but I put it at 50% full and defrag. it. It helped alot but didn't get rid of the problem. Here is my system:

2.0 Dual Core Opteron 2.0 Ghrtz

7600 Nvidia GT

1 GIG OCZ ram DDR 3200

Seagate SATA 2 HD 300 GIG

Could it still be the Hard drive? Or is it somewhere else?

no ur hdd is fine but it may be the ram problem.... ur using pc-3200 ram which is ddr sdram and offers less bandwidth than a pc-6400 ddr2 sdram.... can ur mobo support ddr2 ram?? ur other configs look fine... a 7600gt should be able to run ut3 fine without problems. try setting the resolution a little lower to see if it helps but i think its becuz of the memory

lol, guys Ut3 is NOT that demanding of a game. I played it well at 1024(or higher, cant remember) with some medium settings. I only have 1gb of ram, an x800xl, and a similar processor.

If your offline try reducing the number of bots and see if that helps some.

it's your ram. trust me. i used to have the same problem with 1gb of ddr ram. i recently purchased 2gb more and it runs the game smooth as hell now. and i have a 4200+x2 and a 7900gt. so get 2gb more of the corsair ram, they are only like 70bucks or so. it'll boost your system dramatically.

naw, i think i figured it out. i went on nvidia's site and they have special forceware drivers to use with unreal3. they say this fixes a hitching issue which sounds like that could be my problem. but i can't use those drivers because nvidia doesn't support sd tv out with correct aspect ratio(my pc is also a htpc). sucks.
