Upcoming games too good for the likes of 8800 GTX?, looks like it.

Anyone seen the Bioshock hardware performance graphs on GS? it only runs good at 800 x 600, run at 1024 x 768 and over 80 FPS. This means if u run at this resolution then at heavy gun fights the fps is gonna drop well below 50..

i think this is an indication that Crysis is only gonna just run smoothly on 8800 gtx when not under heavy fights.

Thats pretty poor tbh..

gotta love ingnorance because your post is full of it. Firstly, given the time period did it ever occur to you that crysis itself is being DEVELOPED on an 8800GTX? now given they might have dual gtx's or an ultra but the pint is the game will run great on an 8800gtx it HAS to. and secondly crytex has stated that the game will run on a 6600 so your saying that a 6600 can run it but the 8800gtx will have issues HAHA nice try OH and on top of that.EVERY GAME BEING DEVELOPED RIGHT NOW IS MORE THAN LIKEYLY BEING MADE ON A HIGH END 8800 CARD therefore your post mkaes no sense

Bioshock is very high profile game... and over 30 fps is just the way to go, 50 fps on a heavy fight? thats great.

I am really sick of these kind of topics. Im pretty sure everyone else as read this a million times, but Crysis isnt even out yet so we have no proof whether or not a 8800gtx is the only one that can run it on max. And even then, you dont need to run a game running on max with all its eye candy on just to enjoy it to a good extent.

OMG OMG OMG

Games too much for 8800?

Everything 25+ fps is great and u are complaining because of 50 fps?

FREAKING 50 FPS!!! On kick-ass resolution.

Some games arent optimized to run verry good with high AF for example. So PLEASE lower it A BIT.From 16xAF to 8xAF.ALMOST NO DIFFERENCE.

Or mybe try lowering resolution.OMG i can see you for mybe few months complaining on this forum about "how expencive is PC gaming". Probably because u arent satisfied with 8800 and u are going to buy next SUPER-EXPENCIVE-CARD

And BTW. when it says for example

50 FPS on 1024x768 IT MEANS MINIMUM FPS REACHED,BECAUSE MINIMUM FPS INDICATES HOW WELL GAME RUNS NOT MAXIMUM!

SO THAT MEANS "SPECIFIC GAME" RUNS AT 50 FPS WHILE IN MASSIVE BATTLES AND SUCH.

IT WILL PROBABLY GO UP TO 80 FPS 4 example, but minimum reached was 50,and thats FPS that counts.

8800GTX in Bioshock? lol I played Bioshock today on high settings in 1024x768 on a Geforce 7600GT and it sometimes ran very slow or froze but I think that was just because I have only 256 MB of RAM.:P So I wouldn't worry about a 8800GTX.

Edit: oh, and my PC can't wait for Crysis :D :P

SO IF U SAY THAT CRYSIS 4 EXAMPLE RUNS ON 50 FPS IT MEANS 50 FPS WITH MAXIMUM LOAD( withbunches of units on screen,shadows,everything..)

@gs_gear

Yeah,thats what im talking bout,

I AM WAITING 4 CRYSIS 2 PROOVE PPL THAT I CAN PLAY IT ON VERRY NICE SETTINGS ON MY CHEAP PC.

@others

i DONT THINK U NEED 8800 CARD BECAUSE

1.ITS STILL 2 EXPENCIVE

2.THERE AINT GAME YET THAT WILL PUT IT 2 REAL TEST,so no need for that power (especialy not for that cost, unles u are bored and have like 10 000 dolars on your credit card)

3.INFEW MONTHS THERE WILL BE OTHER CARDs THATARE BETHER THAN 8800 and PROBABLY WILL USE NEW TECHNOLOGY.

SO GAMES WILL USE THAT TECHNOLOGY.(4 example, bether use cheaper pixel shader 3 card than most expencive pixel shader 2 card.)

4.U can BUY GREAT cards, that are not verry expencive AND WILL RUN GAME AT DECENT FPS WITH HIGH EVERYTHING ON DECENT RESOLUTION.And still have money in your pocket.

THAT IS WHATS ALL ABOUT. IF U ARE ALLWAYS BUYING NEWEST CARD THAN GO GET CONSOLE.BECAUSE U ARE SOONER OR LATER START COMPLAINING HOW EXPENCIVEPC GAMING IS.

it would help it you actually understood what im getting at, just because a game RUNS doesnt mean it will run WELL.

For instance, my arguement is that the game will run choppy under graphical intensive parts.. dont believe me? you will.

Did you ever even see benchmarks or peoples comments of how Oblivion ran when it came out? it ran like crap, and only now its starting to run smoothly on current hardware. Not all games are like this.

i got a mid range maybe high mid range system (athlon x2 5600, 8800gts, 2 gigs) and it runs bio shock just dandy at max 1680x i dont play with AF or AA cause eh i cant really tell a dif but yah, i dont see any games comin out within the next 2 or 3 years that are gonna just crap all over my GTS.

I dont sit there and count frames per sec either, as long as its smooth im happy, every game will dive into 30-40's in heavy HEAVY action, unless you got a 3000 dollar rig.

This person doesn't know much about GFXs. First off the GTX was designed with a massive amount of RAM so an increase in resolution decreases the preformance at a much lower rate than normal (try running test on 1600+ resoultion). 2nd 80FPS is amazing. I don't think the 7600GT could run it on high let alone get about 50FPS and thats the 4th best card type on the market (8800,7900,7800, 7600). Have you also considered that the 8800GTX is THE 2ND most POWERFUL card on the market. What developer would make a game that slows down on the 2ND MOST POWERFUL CARD on the market. For me my upgrade from my 7600GT to an 8800GTS was amazing in preformance. Lost Planet for 7600GT Voltmod+Maunel OC (low/medium at 1024x768 u). 8800GTS (Everything max, but shadow resoultion 1280x1024) for only $125 more. 50FPS is amazing btw... if you can see a difference in 50fps then donate yourself to science so they can do experiments on you.

That is incorrent your eye can easily see the difference between 30 and sixty there is even a test somewhere at tweakguides.com that proves it.

That's theconsumer market. There's much better ones, but are too expensive to be distributed widely for average people, like the stuff for supercomputers that movies use.

I actually have alot of computer knowledge.

People that have got high gaming rigs are just mad about what im saying because they actually own what they think is a good card.

Mark my words though, wait until crysis comes out.. i guarantee it will still run like crap in alot of places. Look at FEAR, that was the same when it came out.

8800 GTX, yes its the 2nd most powerful card.. Have you even seen the ultra? its a rip off, maybe even 5% faster if your lucky.. thats hardly worth £100 more over GTX.

zomg i guess my bioshock is a fluke since i get silky smooth framerate at max settings at 1920x1080. or maybe my gfx card is just a super ultra prototype card that wasnt meant to be released to the general public.

Here are a couple of pics of Bioshock running on my PC on a single 8800gts @ 1680 x 1050. Never got less than 33 FPS and the avererage framerate was around 40 on Direct X 10. (Pictures taken using FRAPS. FPS indicator on top left of the picture)

Man.. I have a 7600GS and Bioshock ran at higher than 30fps at 1024 x 768. If your complaining about 50fps in a gunfight.. then you truly have no idea what your talking about.

Bioshock is for some reason horribly optimized on the PC. Play Medal of Honor Airborne demo (also running on the Unreal 3.0 engine) and you will see that it runs way smoother.

Bioshock's was developed mainly for the 360, not the PC. I bet with patches we will see better preformance but right now we get a 360 game on the PC.

Crysis however was built directly for the PC. The developers can run the game maxed out in DX9 mode on a single 7900 with a single core 3.0 ghz processor. I am not worried at all. The CryEngine is going to be as stable as the Source engine.

i'm playing bioshock on a 8800gts (with 640mb ram), and playing at max settings at 1600x1200 (dx10 off, in xp still) and the game runs utterly flawlessly at all times

8800, even the gts, utterly devours dx9 games - and 30fps is mega playable in single player

probably most 8800 owners will find themselves playing single player with dx10 on, and multiplayer with dx10 off, and all will be fine

8800 is a monster, but even monsters get old... how long before the 8850 is out? couple months, probably

such is the life of the pc gamer

25+Fps? you are having a joke man, try playing a game like CSS at that frame rate and play it online, you wont be so happy then. 60+ for no slideshow.

Galamode

I've heard the eye sees anything around 25-30 fps as completely fluid and normal, no slideshow at all

Apparently there have being test showing the human eye can see up to 200fps...

I'm sure most of the people here are fine with 50fps in a game like bioshock.

Frames-per second this! Game settings that! It's all about "perfection". Really, it is just too claustrophobic.

I am running an AMD 4800, 7900gt, 2gb RAM. I play SupCom, Oblivion, gothic3, NWN2, SH4, IL2-1946, Bioshock, Prey, Doom3 in a crash-free, graphically intensive environment. If Steam's own survey of HL2 users shows that 85% of people use a single core, low-end VGA, less than a gig o' RAM system, then developers will make games that run on most machines, and scale performance on higher-end rigs. That's what we see today, and why games give you as many options to turnup/down effects and resolution. Wider audience means more money, so says Tom Cruise.

well your eye see's the world in 32 frames per secound so having it run at those speeds you would be getting motion sickness running it at 80 fps.

It's not the card, it's VISTA.
