Ok I really want to upgrade my pc now 'cause there are a lot of games coming out in the nxt few months :).

My current sspecs:

CPU:AMD Athlon X3 450 3.20Ghz

GPU:GTS 450

RAM:4GB

Motherboard:ASUS M4A77T

And here is what I've been thinking upgrading to:

CPU:AMD PHENOM II X6 1055T

GPU: GTX560 Ti

Also my power supply is 480W is more power needed?

Thanks!

i would upgrade to a phenom II x955 and save your money for a better psu , like a 600 W corsair or something. the x6 won't give you any boost in games

Same for the 955...won't be a huge difference for 120$

Okay so the phenom II x955 is a quad core right?

And how much would a new psu cost? Like that 600W?

The extra core and l3 cache will give him less bottleneck and a better performance in games that ask for four cores but on the other hand you're right it isn't a big upgrade. Still , he doens't have much upgrade choices otherwise and if he want's an even better card later on the athlon x3 will certainly bottleneck him.

YEah it's a quad core and not only that it has l3 cache, you will feel that , i can tell ya. A good 600 W psu you should be able to get for around 70$. I would take one of the following brands, seasonic, corsair, thermaltake, coolermaster or antec.

Exactly. No point in upgrading to a soon to be old gen CPU. Either go with Sandry Bridge or wait for Bulldozer imo.

Edit: or buy an AM3+ mobo and the 955, that will give you some good headroom.

Don't bother upgrading the CPU. There isn't any worthy options on the AMD side. Upgrade the GPU to a GTX560ti or 6950 and call it a day. I wouldn't worry about your CPU until the end of the year at the earliest. Theres a possibility we could have new CPU's from both sides by then.

doesn't matter he doesn't have a motherboard that supports those newer cpu's. How can you say it's not a worthy upgrade, i mean he has an x3 ATHLON, that means no level three cache + you have an extra core with the phenom. Off course if he can buy an new motherboard i would suggest the i5-2300,2400 or 2500 they can all be bought below 200$ and a motherboard should be doable for 75$

The difference between an Athlon ll X3 and a Phenom X4 isn't very big in most games, especially multiplats. It'd be a waste to invest in a soon to be dead socket. He might as well save the $120 and wait until he can get a new MOBO and CPU.

Your power supply might be fine, really depends on the brand. The 560ti only needs a quality ~450watt psu, but yeah need more info on the power supply.
