upgrade for AMD Athlon 64 Processor 300+ 754-pin socket processor?

Any suggestions for upgrading my CPU from this one AMD Athlon 64 Processor 300+ 754-pin socket processor. Sorry if I seem ignorant at all im sort of no on the up to date stuff with PC's. Any suggestions between 100-150 would be great!

If you don't care about SLI, I'd advise you get this combo-$207; its got the best Dual-Core.

Any standard DDR3 RAM will do. Any 1066 or 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM should do fine. Your mobo will support 1600 MHz but you won't see anything out of that unless your whole rig overclocked to really high speeds. So standard cheap RAM is the way to go.

It has an unlocked multiplier for better overclocking, as well. And it's really a quad core with two cores disabled, so there is a slim chance that you can unlock the two extra cores. But only if the motherboard's bios has the hybrid feature to do it, and if the disabled cores aren't disabled, because they were defective.

Check your video card, too. You're not going to want to find out you have an incompatible AGP card while you put it all together.

in short you have jsut been drawn into a trap your gonna be the very neglectful papa/mama of a whole new rig :P hate to say it but its like this diff cpu = diff mobo for its socket = usually meaning newer ram & gpu but to power that gpu your going to need a better psu :P tada i saved you all 6 feet of thread posts :P
