I have an evga 9800gtx+ that i got for $100(recertified). I am looking to upgrade simply because i need an hdmi connection, so possibly a new ati card? The thing is i really dont want to spend much more money. What new cards on the market are equal to or slightly better than the gtx+, the cheaper the better. Thanks.

What's your budget range? I'd suggest anything between 5770 to 5970 not knowing your budget.

Heres a better way of using hdmi, without having to buy a new card.

I guess the 5770 is the best choice for you. It offers a good performance boost over the 9800gtx+ ( its on par with the gtx260 corre 216 and the ati 4870 ), has dx11, it has lower power consumption and it cost usually around the $150-180 mark

I wouldnt waste money on another card just for HDMI support. two of three things will allow you to use HD with audio. 3.5mm to rca adapter, DVI to HDMI, and or a svideo to HD component adapter, which alot of video cards do get if they have a s-video.

The TC asked a card slightly better than the 9800GTX+ that is not expensive and the 5770 is a decent choice and its faster than the 9800gtx+ in many games ( in some games the performance increase is small but other games the performance increase is quite big like anno )

Ok that sounds like a better deal than getting a new card, but what where would i plug the rca jacks into on my tv? if i have video going through hdmi then i will have it on the hdmi input on my tv, so how can i get the sound?

My 4850 has this HDMI dongle that came with it you can use on one of the DVI ports, it carries sound too.

ur TV should have a red/white rca audio in on the back. some times it may correspond to an AV jack (lke panasonic, the red/white frpom av1 will send audio to one of the HDMI in's). just read (i know its hard sometimes!) the little words under ur inputs on the back of the TV, it'l point to where to plug in. if u cant figure it (god help us!) just take a photo and link it ere.

Thanks for the help, i did look but there was no indication of any audio plug ins for the hdmi. It is kind of an odd tv, it is a 52" HP Dlp, HP no longer makes tvs and i dont have the manual, but i guess i can just buy the cords and hope, because they're not that expensive. So just to make sure before i buy, these should work right?

Actually disregard most of what i just said. I did find rca inputs for one of the hdmi inputs so thats no problem, they were just way in the back of the tv i had to move it. But related to my previous post, will those cables work?(just making sure i didnt make some stupid mistake)
