Hey guys I currently have a pre-built pc. The specs are AMD 7550 dual-core 2.5ghz, ati 4670, 3g ram, and 320 gb hd.

I want to get a new case with motherboard and new processor. I never built a pc so I need some suggestions. The budget is $700, fine with anything cheaper.

Any preference on the size of the case? Do you prefer an Intel or AMD processor for this system? Also, would you like the motherboard to have Crossfire/SLI support?

That will need an upgrade if your thinking of a new graphics card in the future.

Just for a bit of head room, I would say 550 is the minimum, but I wouldn't mind recommending a 650, obviously still from a reputable company (those 5xxx ATI's are power hungry)

Now do you have DDR3? because the board you selected is DDR3, And chances are that your prebuilt with a 7550 is a DDR2 board. I suggest you check or change out your mobo choice.

Amith12

That will need an upgrade if your thinking of a new graphics card in the future.

The PSU listed could run a 5850 without a hitch. While CF is certainly out of the question, there's nothing wrong with the 500W unit, especially considering the modest price tag.

650W is a tad short of comfortably running two enthusiast cards in CF. I suggest dropping down to a lower wattage unit for a single card configuration, or swap it out for this 750W PSU for $10 more.

You can swap for a DDR 2 board like the one I posted or you can spend another $100 for DDR3 but it will last longer. Also the 650w Corsair is plenty even for 5870's in CF which only draw a max load of 560w along with a high ended system.

if you don't plan to crossfire, then a 770 series motherboard would of been fine. 790x is designed for those who want to run 2 video cards.
