I'm planning to upgrade my laptop's video card sometime soon, and I was wondering what sort of video card you people would recommend. I currently have a GeForce 8600M which, while still does the job competently, is showing its age.

What I am looking for is a pretty good upgrade, but not too expensive-- that is, what would give me the most bang for my buck?

My current system specs:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.50GHz

Memory: 4GB RAM

OS: Windows Vista 32-bit (shudder)

Video Card: GeForce 8600M GT

Thanks in advance!

Yeah sorry to say but laptop GPUs are hardly upgradeable. However, you could suggest to the manufacterers that they do make them upgradeable. Just keep your games at medium settings and you should be alright for the most part. Perhaps you should build yourself a nice gaming PC if you don't have one already ;)

Thanks! It looks like that's what I'm going to have to do.

For about $1000 you can build the best computer you would need for a while. I just got a new computer from my old one (has the same video card as you) and it is amazing how much of a difference there is while gaming. Have fun maxing out crysis (or whatever game you will play)
