i have a GTS 250 1GB version and i can run most games on medium-high settings but in certain games like Just Cause 2 i need to lower my setting to maybe low - medium and at 1920x1080 res it doesnt look good and starts too lag so if i upgrade to a HD5850 will i a see a big performance diffrence,or do i need a 5870?

my specs are:
AMD Phenom II 955 @3.6Ghz
Asus Crosshair IV Formula Motherboard
8GB Corsair dominator Ram @ 1600Mhz
GTS 250 1 GB version
750W corsair PSU

nah man keep the card. its not cool to buy something just to use it for 5 months. I say keep it for another 5 months then think about upgrading, unless you have a lot of money and you really couldnt care less about money, then do it.

I agree with GazaAli i did update from the GTX260 because it was starting to lag in more demanding games to the GTX470 but i had the GTX260 for over a year and a half. Unless you have the money to spare i wouldn't upgrade so soon after a new purchase.

You should be able to play that game with more demanding settings than low. (Just cause 2) Atleast Med-high settings, plays fine for me and my card is about the same performance as yours. (Running x4AA x16AF but using a 1680*1050 screen.) Dont get all that worked up about the gamebenchmark, the game plays alot better.

Since its going to be a fast upgrade, i would suggest using it as a Physx card or build another rig and sell it?

Theres no future in PhysX and if you use post 186 nVidia drivers, you won't be able to use a non-nVidia GPU in the same box without nVidia arbitrarily disabling PhysX. Besides, it's something that CPUs noawadays can handle. DX11, OpenCL are the way things are going now. The decision to upgrade should more be a question of whether or not you're achieving the desired result and not how long you've had the card.
