So whats everyone going to be upgrading in the new year then?
I need a new case, a new CPU cooler, some more RAM, another HDD, Windows 7 and a new graphics card.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
probly just a GPU maybe a CPU cooler
Current stuff:
8800GTS
720 X3 BE
4GB DDR3 1666
640GB HD
mechwarrior_bob
i would needless to say the 8800 series is starting to show its age.
my i recommend the hd 5750 or 5770
if you INSIST its an nivida 9800gtx
Near the end of next year I'm planning on buying a Q9550 and over-clocking it to around 3.6Ghz, with a good Air cooler, only problem is I may have to move my 250mm side panel Fan to the outside of my case lol
New for 2010:
Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz, hoping to achieve 3.6Ghz
I may buy a Megahalems Shadow w/ 2x Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM Slip Stream 120mm Fanpush/pull setup. Seems with the 250mm side panel fan blowing on it as well as my GPU/motherboard area and other intake/exhaust fans in this case, cooling shouldn't be a problem at all.
so also new for 2010 is:
Prolimatech Megahalems
2x Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM Slip Stream 120mm Fan, 110 CFM.
Im planning on getting a 1TB Samsung F3 HDD since 500GB just doesn't cut it for a gamer with a steam account, im also thinking about getting a bigger monitor I've had my 19" samsung for almost 4 years now, I think 22" 1680x1050 should be perfect for a HD 4890 since im not planning on upgrading my core hardware for another 1 years or so. Too_tight_shoesThe 4890 is the Perfect card for that res! Actually i would go for 1920x1200 (24inch) they can be found at good prices, and down the road when you do Upgrade your Vid card, you have a res to take advantage of it. The 4890 is fine for 1920x1200 too!

A good 24" monitor will cost a bit more than im willing to spend aswell as the fact that they are a bit too big since im only 2 feet away from the monitor, im still uncertain if im going to upgrade the monitor yet, the HDD is my main priority as well as better case.
I'm thinking of getting a Blu-ray drive to go with my new 1080p monitor, but I may skip out on that. And I'd like to get a DX11 card at some point, but I may just crossfire my 4890 if I don't see any real benefits from DX11
im upgrading tomorrow my whole rig to: CPU : E7500 GPU: GTS250 1Gb of GDDR3. PSU. Mobo: Gigabyte EP31-DS3LGazaAliWhat kind of deal did u get on that stuff in gaza? but anyways you will see a major boost going from a 8500gt to a GTS 250, and going from a 2 ghz 1mb cache C2D to a 2.9 ghz 3mb cache C2D.
I wont be upgrading until I know Nvidia's plans are with AMD AM3 based SLI motherboards and when they release Their GTX 300 series.
I dunno but i try to save enough money to get a new PSU and two Fermi cards.

i think they wont support AMD in the future, but there are still AM3 Ready 3 Way SLI mobos from MSI.

why wouldnt they, they would lose many people who have invested in AM3 and want SLI[QUOTE="mechwarrior_bob"]

Oddly enough I feel very attached It's been a good little card, has good temps and runs pretty much everything well @ 1920X1080. I built two other comps same everything except one had a 4850 and the other has a 5770 and the difference is obvious, so yeah probly make a nice step up after the 5000 prices take a slide.

Nvidia would be stupid to not support AM3. Anyway, i will probably be getting another 4890 or sell the one i have and buy a 5870 or 5970 if the prices drop enough. What kind of deal did u get on that stuff in gaza? but anyways you will see a major boost going from a 8500gt to a GTS 250, and going from a 2 ghz 1mb cache C2D to a 2.9 ghz 3mb cache C2D.[QUOTE="GazaAli"]im upgrading tomorrow my whole rig to: CPU : E7500 GPU: GTS250 1Gb of GDDR3. the GTS250 cost 210$, the E7400 120$, the PSU 120$ and the mobo 100$. i sold my old parts for a 100$, so i paid 450$.[QUOTE="04dcarraher"]What kind of deal did u get on that stuff in gaza? but anyways you will see a major boost going from a 8500gt to a GTS 250, and going from a 2 ghz 1mb cache C2D to a 2.9 ghz 3mb cache C2D.[QUOTE="GazaAli"]im upgrading tomorrow my whole rig to: CPU : E7500 GPU: GTS250 1Gb of GDDR3. Probably sli my 9800GT and get 4 more gb of ram so I'd have 8gb of ram and it would be completely overkill.

i wanted the GTX275 so bad, but it was going to cost me 320$ which is outrageous for a GPU.Nothing, there are no games coming out that need more then what I have, hell, it's overkill for 99% of games out anyway =D
Probably in 2nd half of the year-
1+TB SATA HD
New CPU/MOBO/DDR3 Combo (nothing currently on market)
40-46 inch 1080p TV for sports/racing games.. I like my 22-inch monitor for FPS and most games.
I am not trying to be rude, but the 8800 GTX is showing its age quite badly. Now I owned one when they came out and it was and still is a great card, but it defiantly is not overkill.Nothing, there are no games coming out that need more then what I have, hell, it's overkill for 99% of games out anyway =D

well what resoltuion he kcicking it at.. i knw for a fact some cards can kick brand new titles on low resolutions still. an hd 2400pro can play dawn of war 2 (hd 2400 is worse than an x1550 O.o)
Thinkin of maybe getting into water cooling btw I am at uni so moving my pc around maybe a thing i do more than 2 times a year.. as in from uni to home etc. so would it be ok to do and is it worth. Main reason why i want to is 1. It looks awesome and 2. I fancy a lil project that i can keep adding too etc :)
