Any P.C. from 8 years ago is only good for a case in order to play todays games on max. Translation every part from back then is to slow for now adays.

I'd argue that a case from back then is probably rubbish, especially if it was a pre-built.
Ok I will just use the Case but may I get a list of Parts needed?0Hamburgher
was this case by any chance, is it a vertical or horizontal sitting case? very important.
but beyond that:
HDD (hard drive 7200 rpm)
optical drive (dvd-rom)
ddr2- 800/1066 or ddr3 memory (based on the motherboard you pick)
amd athalon II x2/x3/x4 cpu (if your on a budget or intel core i3 if you refuse to spend alot and go amd)
varying on your budget.. gpu options(your always welcome to get something better): ati hd 4850(well rounded card)/ nvidia gts 250(well rounded ati card but inferior to most others ont his list)/ ati hd 4870(best of the bunch for dx10)/ati hd 5770(best of the bunch for dx11)/ nvidia gts 450 (last resort card), ati hd 4860 (hard to come by), gtx 260 192/216 core(hard to find)
psu 500 watt or better (asuming you get a good brand)
case: rosewill challenger .. HANDS DOWN the best case you can get for a low budget
windows 7 home premium 64-bit (as windows xp isnt sold anymore and windows vista is impractical b/c 7 is so much bettah!)
By "sitting case" you mean How it sits right? It sits vertically. Luckily I can use Windows XP; My Budget is Under $1000 and for now I will use the spare case just to save $40-$100 AMD Athlon II X4 640 $100 Seagate Barracuda 7200 1.5 TB $85 I still need some help with the PSU, Motherboard etc.0Hamburgherokay i had to check.. some old cases lay down rather than stand up and are a real heat problem.. i dare call them a fire hazard for new parts in them.
as for the rest okay.. time to start cooking with gas!
my choice of mobo for you:

expect to play any game you want on highest settings. in the event you need more juice slam another 5770 in there and your off to the races.
Another thing to ask, are there any games that REQUIRE Windows 7?0Hamburgher
Not any that I know of. DirectX 11 does require Windows 7 though and you at least need Vista for DirectX 10.
I may be mistaken.
Another thing to ask, are there any games that REQUIRE Windows 7?0HamburgherThere are two or three games that require at least DX10 which means you need either Vista or 7 to run them. Also, would you be able to supply a pic of your PC or the name of your old PC. Would be good to know just what this case looks like.

So probably you need a new case.
Is it the build quality or the size or something that limits things?[QUOTE="Winaragon"][QUOTE="0Hamburgher"]http://www.cas-gmbh.de/hardware/hp/HP%20-%20Personal%20Computer%20-%20HP%20Kayak%20XM600-Dateien/xu600.jpeg The one standin upright is meh computer (BTW it is not the only one I have)0Hamburgher

Is it the build quality or the size or something that limits things? As far as looks go, its clearly hideous and air flow would be very poor too. You may be able to fit all your gear in it, but you would be able to get a much better case for $50-$100 so its just not worth putting a heap of good gear in a crummy case.[QUOTE="0Hamburgher"][QUOTE="Winaragon"]Is it the build quality or the size or something that limits things?
