If your box is a P4 then you're probably looking for an AGP video card. They really don't stack up against today's demanding games. The market has really moved over to the superior PCI Express platform for graphics. What little we know about your computer tells us that it is completely outdated.

I would recommend saving your money until you can afford to replace the computer with something newer that supports PCI-E. But you can certainly still upgrade your machine if you want to. Assuming that you do have an AGP slot, here are some choices among "new" cards. You could also try to find something used from someone who is selling off his old working hardware to upgrade, on a site like craigslist or something.
