Yeah I see that now (your sig said 2.66 when I posted that reply). Upgrading a first gen i7 at over 4ghz isn't worth it (to be honest that CPU could easily last you another 2-3 years).I've overclocked it to 4.1 GHz

I want to play Far Cry 3 on Ultra - 1080p. So I was wondering if I can do it with my current specs.
btw my GPU is MSI N760 Twin Frozr 2GB
You will be able to do that with that setup.I want to play Far Cry 3 on Ultra - 1080p. So I was wondering if I can do it with my current specs.

i7 920 at 4.1Ghz... 6GB DDR3 RAM and GTX 760... 120GB SSD.... Yeah there's nothing you can upgrade without feeling like you are wasting your money. If I were you I would stop thinking about performance and start using your PC.Grey_Eyed_Elf+1. Put the money in the bank and save it. You're set for a couple years.

Not worth it. Â A 1st gen i5 or i7 quad-core clocked at 3.5ghz or higher should be good to go for the next 2+ years. Â Yours is over 4ghz. Â There is really no point in upgrading to any sub-$500 CPU on the market right now. Â Your current computer is perfect for games like FC3 at 1080p maxed out. Â
Just ordered an new mobo, cpu and memory. The 920 is outdated. the Tems were a little high than I expected. So I moved to Haswell. I'm also doing it for USB 3.0 and SATA III
The tems were a little high? Have fun with Haswell then XDJust ordered an new mobo, cpu and memory. The 920 is outdated. the Tems were a little high than I expected. So I moved to Haswell. I'm also doing it for USB 3.0 and SATA III

Yes, idle 60 and load 70-80, so it's not normal.

Still new to the computer stuff so excuse me if I'm wrong, but a cooler or a fan are out of the question for your temp problems? Â Also if you were going to go on and buy the stuff anyways then why ask the forum? Â Everybody told you no and you did it anyway? Â Its your money, your compy, but it just sounds redundant on my side.
Do not do it. Your CPU is fast and the only benefit you might get is USB 3.0 (which in most cases has no benefit over 2.0). Wait for Skylake (your CPU is very very fast). Not sure about that :)' I'm still thinking getting an new mobo + cpu and memory

EDIT: looks like he already bought the new parts. Why in the hell would you make thread, have 6-7 people (everyone in this entire thread) tell you DO NOT UPGRADE and then proceed to upgrade anyways...... (derp). You just paid $300+ dollars to play your games with the same exact settings.....
