I'd typically suggest the 5770, but I just saw a Sapphire 5830 on Newegg going for $240 with free shipping. Still, I'm not sure if the performance gain is worth an extra $80-$100 :?

yea i'm leaning to the 5770 too.. lol and i don't think i got enough $ :(.. i've heard problems with the 5770.. such as the gray screen issue.. was that fixed? I also see the gtx260+ as much better jump from my 4850 @__@.. ahh i'm so torn lol

The GTX 260 is $200 (USD) on newegg right now. There are several models for that price. The 4890 isn't a bad idea, except that his PSU may or may not be able to handle it.

umm really wow? well about his psu, im pretty sure it can handle it just enought, as long as he doesn't OC the card he should be fine.

yea i was thinking 4890.. but i don't think i wanna deal with more heat and more power consumption.. i'm thinking once i upgrade in the future i'll prolly just get a new psu and do a crossfire with a 5770 when i get a new mobo and stuff :o (another reason i see the 5770 valuable +dx11) tbh I'm just really looking for a replacement that's better than my 4850. I'm thinking 260 because nvidia usually is pretty stable for me. so I'm not sure.. I'm probably going to frys for these btw lol cause it's almost the same price when i add tax+shipping on newegg.. Looking at specific brands btw, i'm leaning on an XFX or an evga

Have you ever tried to run a 4890 on a PSU with 36 amps on the 12-volt rails? My best friend has, and he's having some serious issues. I'm not so sure. I also wouldn't run a GTX 260 on that PSU. The 5770 seems to me like the only choice which will give you a performance boost, and run safely on that PSU.

same thing i said to the other guy "imo 260, your not going to be pulling off any DX 11 games with a low end entry level dx 11 card (i dont know why people buy these) would you be able to max todays DX10 games like crysis with an entry level dx 10 card?"

i tried to use a psu calculator to calculate my rig with the 260 .. and i think my antec could handle it, no? http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine i get a score of 338W.. and the +12V rail should be fine too cause i have 36A which is the required for the 260.. :o Mmm.. I don't know what would be more worth it though.. because buying two 5770's later on would be a better route, right?

lol all that might be true, its not worth over getting just a 470 and just running physx or something. also TC no ur PSU cant handle a gtx 260 becuase ur amps on a rail are kinda small. its the same as running a 4890.

in my hose now we have an i7 920 with a gtx 275, and an i7 930 with a hd 4850 512mb. Crysis VERY closely on each system (over 30fps with all settig on high at 1680x 1050). so i dont think this is a worth while upgrade. check out benchmarks for the games YOU play and see which ones come out on top. if it was me personally i would hold off for a few more months, or get teh 5770
