Well I think its about time to upgrade my comp and since I'm not the best with specs I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

specs:

AMD Athlon Xp 2800+

1.66 ghzs, 1/50 GB of RAM

Windows XP home editions

I'm thinking of getting a new processor and a new mother board any suggestions???

you should mention your graphics card, very important for your computer for gaming, also we need a budget to work with.

yeah you will probably need more then that, your computer is very old and will need to replace a lot of the hardware. 400 would only be a stop gap measure and really wouldn't be worth it at all. you need like 800-1000 for upgrading to be worth it.

200 is not enough for what you have now, 400 probably isn't either. You need a new computer all together if you want to go for gaming. You could probably buy the essentials, such as a processor, mobo, Graphics card, and ram for that much and maybe recycle all the acesssories.

Unfortunately, you're running a Socket A/DDR/AGP motherboard, which means to upgrade just about anything (that would be worth your money, anyway) would take a complete overhaul. I'd say save your money and buy an entirely new machine.

I'm actually thinking more of heading towards graphics design so it wouldnt have to be top of the line for playing games.... although when sc2 comes out ill need to run that very well...
