I came across some extra money recently, so I decided to upgrade my old, old, terrible graphics card. However, I remembered once being told I "payed money for a piece of crap that can't be updated." So I am a bit Cautious. I am wondering if there is anyway I can find out if this is true, or anybody who knows how to find out. As a side note, I'm aiming for a graphics card that will run Bioshock well. So if you can recommend a graphics card aswell, I would appeciate it.

uhoh Batman.

Yeah, thats kinda what he meant. That there "video device" you list is onboard (as in hardwired to the mobo). It can be disabled but the question now is what type of graphical interface does your motherboard have. If its AGP you at least have a glimmer of hope.....but Im guessing PCI here. Is it a custom built machine? And if not, can you give the make/Model?

How do I find out my graphical Interface? Andyes, I believe it was custom made, but only in the sense that I called up Dell and said I want this and I want that. It's a (Dell)Dimension 2400 Series, Intel Celeron Processor at 2.4GHz. Made 3 years ago, with Windows XP professional.

I'm not a computer expert, so I don't really know what a "make" is, and I thought Dimension2400 series, intel was the motherboard? Not sure if this will have the information you are looking for, but this is what I have: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-2400-pentium/4505-3118_7-30824846.html

Oh no. You need a new motherboard. You are looking at around $100-$200 for one. Before you buy one, make sure you know what processor you are going to get (your processor can't run Bioshock). I would recommend a Athlon if price is a problem, and an Intel if you want performance. Also make sure that the mobo has a PCIexpress slot for graphics. I have a guide for buying graphics cards in my profile. I believe you don't have great PSU, especially on non-custom PCs.

You are looking at least $800 for a motherboard, processor, graphics card, and a power supply. If I were you, I would just get a new PC. I would custom build it, since it would be cheaper (if you don't want a monitor).

I don't think it will have a PCI-E slot so I don't think its worth buying a Graphics card you might aswell just buy a new PC.
