I have upgraded the RAM in a desktop before but i've never even touched a laptop before i got mine 2 days ago.

It's a Dell Latitude D510 (Not the best laptop i know, but it suits the need).

I have a couple of question really.:

How easy is it to upgrade laptop RAM? (I've heard in the past that upgrading laptops is difficult)

Where can i buy cheap RAM in the UK?

Thanks!

For cheap RAM try ebuyer.com or dabs.com - they sell cheap pc components. As for your other questions I don't know. Just make sure you buy laptop RAM and not desktop RAM lol.

The ease of upgrading RAM always depends on the laptop in question. It's easy to get to the SO-DIMM slots in some, very difficult in others. (Case in point: my HP TC1100 has one easily-accessible DDR SO-DIMM slot that can take 1 GB. You just unscrew a couple of screws, take off a rear panel, and there it is. But there's a second slot you need to get to for a full 2 GB RAM upgrade, and that requires substantial disassembly to get to. Then again, it's a slate Tablet PC, where they don't have a lot of space to work with. Most laptops probably won't make you go through that.) First off, you need to identify what type of RAM your laptop uses-most likely DDR1 or maybe even older SDRAM. Don't have any e-tailer recommendations for you, though, because I live in the States.
