Im looking to speed up my personal laptop (Dell Inspiron 1405) to be more fit for online gaming and was wondering if anyone could give me good tips on what I should buy. Im thinking a new hard drive, processor, and video card but im not really sure what would be the best fit at a reasonable price.

sorry but you can only upgrade the HDD and Ram with a laptop as the others things are soldered onto the motherboard, and generally 99.999% of laptops are not designed to have cpus or gpus upgraded as it will cause serious heat issues and also stop them making as much money.

Dell's own user forums would be the place to start. Compared to almost all of the rest of the laptop sellers, Dell sells a higher percentage that have somewhat better options for upgrades, but in spite of that, the odds that you have that type and don't already know it (because you paid more to get one made that way) aren't in your favor.

I've not kept up with anything of Dell's in a decade now, so your model number means nothing to me. Overall, the computer industry sells laptops that are 95 % non-game capable because they have onboard chips, only, for video. Those laptops are never made to have separate video cards added later. Out of the remaining 5 %, which come from the factory with actual video card hardware included, a similar 95 % + / - have the mainboard and video circuit board permanently attached to each other, preventing removal, save at extraordinary effort.

The best you can do is upgrade your ram to 2gb. That's the best bang for your bucks. As already stated laptops usually don't allow CPU or GPU upgrades.
