Oh yea im always worried about that...i was moreso wondering about software issues like will windows read that i have a new processor installed or do i have to do something in that aspect?Yankeeman242003Since you're going from a dual core to a faster dual core, you shouldn't have any trouble. The only software issues I've seen within windows is either going from a single core to a hyperthreaded single core, or from a single core to a dual core. Sometimes when you do that, windows has issues recognizing the correct clockspeed. But going from one dual core to another shouldn't give you any issues at all. The one thing I would say to look out for is whether or not your motherboard is compatible with the new processor. As I've learned the hard way, just because the socket is the same, doesn't mean your board's BIOS actually supports the proc you're trying to throw in there.
The X2 5800 isn't listed on the MOBO's compatibility list but the X2 5600 brisbane 89W is...does this mean im SOL or is the website just not updated yet? I'm prob gonna email Gigabyte to see if i can get an answer.Yankeeman242003I would definitely email them. I have gotten burned in the past by assuming proc support. Wouldn't want the same to happen to you.
u may aswell go with the 5600+ then since its supported and it ll be pretty much the same as the one your after interms of performance.
Its a good processor, believe me :)

I'll consider that seeing as how there is a nice one on newegg...then there is also the X2 6000 which is supported but has a high wattage requirement of 125W...so many choices out there, another reason i like the X2 5800 is because of the free game it comes with (GRID). thats a good deal.
