Im in the process of upgrading my semi-old PC

My old specs :

AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+

4GB DDR2

ATI Radeon HD4850

CoolerMaster PSU 450W

My suggestions :

AMD FX8120

8GB DDR3

ATI Radeon HD7950

CoolerMaster PSU 450W

now I want a recommendation for a decent mainboard and also recommendation if there is anything I can reduce the cost with

you don't need a 750W for a single 7950 LOL.

also AMD sucks. Go Intel or you will barely notice an upgrade over that X2. I had an X2 6000+ for 6 years. That and the Phenom were the last good processors AMD ever made. Faildozer and Pilepooper suck.

I have no problem with my HD4850 playing nearly every game in the scene at my my 19" monitor thats why I asked isthe difference worth upgrading !!

19 inch at what resolution? 1024* or 1280* res I'm assuming.

You can go cheap with hd 7770 and already be beefier than your old card. Better yet 7850 hd if you intend to get a bigger monitor.

http://www.anandtech.com/print/6396 < cpu benchies. Personally I'd go with the stronger cpu since is less trouble keeping the same mobo/cpu for a longer time, so read the benchie, and decide for yourself.

Ditch the 7950, no point at your resolution, get the 7850 and save a little more money and get a nice 21-24inch monitor so you can game at 1920x1200/1080.

It sounds like you may not be in the US, so this may not relate to your situation, but a 7950 is around $300-$350 here and a 7850 can be found for $150-$175 after savings. You can get a decent 20-24inch monitor for $150-$200 now which is basically what you would save from going with a 7850.

Also makes sense to go for an AMD GPU there's some crazy deals going on with upto 3 free games, most of them being recent releases.
