Upgrading router firmware questions....

I have a ****** Wireless G router and I would like to update the firmware because I keep losing my connection at random. Can someone give me a step by step tutorial on how do I go about doing this? Also, When I update the firmware will I lose my routers settings ( i.e. network name, port forwarding ports, etc)? Thanks.

Its normally easy, go to ****** website, download firmware, go to 192.168.x.x of your router, go to firmware upgrade page, and click update.

Makes no difference now, because the firmware is copied to the router, then its checked, then upgraded, if it fails the checksum, it just refuses and tells you to send it again.
