Urgent Help needed Please! About Steam and downloading Orange Box?

Do you usually get 20kb/s when downloading other things on the internet?

Hey, I just recently bought the orange box and made an account on steam, then began installing it and it was fine. I know my connection is slow yet I am downloading it now and it seems to be taking forever! My connection is not too good, yet the speed is usually under 20KB/s. And I'm just downloading the half life 2 first, not the other ones. So am I doing something wrong, -> Its taken about an hour and a half to do 7%! The thing that may possibly be a reason is when signing up I chose the 'DSL>Cable 2M'. Now this may be wrong as I'm unsure - I use a wireless connection and so there wasn't an option. Please help! You can change your speed in the settings thing I think. What speed is it downloading at? Traffic is usually VERY high at night. Steam could be overloaded as well.
