9600GT I've seen them running on a 300w PSU, but I wouldn't recommend one unless you have at least a 350w, what powersupply do you have?

2GB is more than enough for XP.i have them and my system never goes beyond 1.2 GB in the worst case with the most intensive games.

I ran an 8800GT on a 320W, how many times will I repeat? If you have a good brand, don't worry.

Do you have a second PSU laying around? You can use two. One for your video card(s), and the other for everything else...

Laptop versions are not supported in games, and that may result in lag. If u have a good 300W supply, you can buy a decent card. From your list, I would definitely choose 9600gt, but I would prefer a ATI hd4670. Its not power hungry, and performs good. Btw, can you tell what's the amperage of your 12v rail? (You can find it on powersupply sticker)

I have 300w but and my friend has the same PC I have and he bought one of those heavy 9600 GT ( not like the one I saw for 80 $ he bought for 150 $ ) and his PSU died after running GTA IV for 5 minutes so he bought a PSU for 120 $ and I dont want to end up like him ( epically where I live there is no Refund )

I know I just assume its a really horrible PSU at 300w... just dont want to let anyone down, is that a crime?...

HD 4670, uses way less power than 9600GT so its pretty fool-proof.

It depends on the PSU. As long as it supplies enough amps, it'll work.

-.-

I doubt you can even get a half decent 250W for $15. A GTX 260 requires 450W-550W.

Just get the 4670, you won't have any problems with it on your current PSU.

That's the total system usage, not just the video card. Adding a second 300w PSU to strictly run a GTX 260 should work just fine, depending on the brand...

Oh, I read that wrong. I've never heard of such a thing, though. Kinda seems like SLI-ing PSUs, but not really, lol.

Edit: Wait, even so, if I'm not mistaken, GPUs only draw power from the 12V rail, right? Therefore a crappy PSU would still have crap ampage on the 12V rail, and not being able to supply sufficient power to a GTX 260?

No prob, I get what you meant now. I guess it is like SLI'ing PSU's, just without the scaling issues. But as for the amperage, it depends on the brand. I bought two 550w PSU's a few years ago for $60 a piece. So for about $120, I got 1100w of power, or what would've cost close to a grand at the time. I recommend it when people can't afford a good PSU. Adding a second one works just as well...
