Does using anti-aliasing make a difference in graphix.

Should I use anti-aliasing because I see a difference in laggyness when I dont use anti-aliasing.

Well, it depends. If turning it on is going to make the game umplayable, then it's obviously a bad thing to turn it on. If your GPU can handle it then turn it on and you should see a very noticable increase in the quality of the graphics.

What are your rig's specs? Most games offer different levels of AA/AF so you may try lower settings but having it on does affect you FPS and causes lag.

Ok heres what happens.

I like to play my games at 1600 x 1200 but when I use anti-aliasing 4x/6x it makes the graphix laggy so I have to bring it down to 800x600 to make it less laggy.

Woah that's quite a drop in resolution... post your rigs specs and we might be able to give you better information.

Wow, what game are you trying to play? If I had to guess, it's your P4 3ghz processor that's holding you down the most.

Smooths the edges, no jaggies.
AF makes the distant textures look more detailed and better.

Edit- That P4 at 3ghz is not holding him back.
The x1950pro cannot max out games at 1600x1200.
You should be able to pretty much max out all games at 1280x1024 though, you shouldn't have to go down to 800x600.

What game are you playing?

Ummm... RSV is very, very poorly optimized.
Try 1024x768.

if your native res is 1600x1200 and you have to drop to 800x600 just to turn on AA/AF then just don't use filters and run the game on your native res, will look much better
