I'm trying to use my lcd tv as a computer monitor, but when setting it up, the screen on the tv justy says "unsupported video signal". I'm connecting the tv to my video card over vga, and I'm not trying to force anything above its native res. I did get the tv to work if I used component cables but I want to use vga.

Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

Plug in your old monitor and set it to 800x600 then plug in your LCD TV and start playing the resolution till you find the highest one it supports (or one that you like).

Make sure you select the right input source on the TV. On the computer, check Display Properties by right-clicking the desktop > Properties > Settings. Make sure two monitors show up. Should look similar to this. Click the LCD TV and check either of the boxes below to extend your desktop to it or make it your main screen.
