I've never played an unreal game before. So which would you reccomend personally, even though 2k4 is 4 years old, UT3 hasnt been recieved well by the fans so I'm unsure. Also, do people still play 2k4 online?

ut2k4 is the best of the bunch, imo. you can get it via steam for $8.99. and yes, people still play it online.

Eh, this is how I see it.

UT3: Is UT2k4 with a hoverboard and an onslaught mode with an orb twist in it, called "warfare" and character customization, and of course the most obvious: The new coat of paint.

So for 50 bucks, you get UT2k4 with some new features.

or you can just get UT2k4 for 10 bucks.

Although, UT3 is having a player drought, something UT isn't know for...ut has never "haven't had enough" it's had a **** ton of everything, so I say just go with UT2k4.

Get 2004, it is better in every way. Unreal 3 isn't a bad game, it just isn't as good as 2004 in terms of gameplay. Of course the graphics are better in 3, but 2004 still has amazing graphics so you won't be missing much. Download the demo of Unreal 3 and check it out for yourself...they actually give you a pretty decent amount of content in the demo...so much that I have no reason to actually buy the game (especially since I have 2004).

I got both game and I regret buying UT3.

It felt dumbed down for console, while ut2k4 wasnt made with console in mind at all wich makes it a much better, faster and stronger game.

They are both different games, UT2k4 focuses more on dodging, wall jumping etc and feels very floaty. UT3 focuses more on the actual gunplay and everything feels a lot more rooted to the ground.

I personally prefer UT3 to UT2k4, but both games are great in their own right.

I actually like the original UT more but if I had to choose out of the two it would be UT2004.

None get TF2Grantelicious

I, for the life of me, cannot get into that game. I played it for about a week and immediately lost interest in it. I tried getting back into it this weekend, but it only seems fun for the first few times you play it.

Wow, I'm totally addicted to TF2, I play it over and over and it enever gets boring. But each to their own...

Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone, I might pick up 2k4 on steam and if I like it I'll stick with it.

Badlands and dustbowl are the best maps on TF2 and stay away from everything else cus they suck.

UT3 is UT2k4 handicapped cousin :)

Jumps in UT2k4 are higher, dodges go farther, gameplay is faster, much faster, better.

Besides, UT3 looks so dull and opaque, 2k4 looks much more colorful and pleasent to the eye.

IMO, best multiplayer FPS ever made.

04. It's cheaper, got more mods and a bigger community. The only reason you would get III is if you really like Gears's gritty styIe over the very colourful and bright 04.

UT3. UT2K4 was nice back then but it's outdated now, these are just the typical responses from the nostalgic, they might as well go back to UT99...

I've been playing 2Fort since '99 and I never get sick of it. Perfect Map.

I think UT3 is a good game, but its obviously not going to run as well as ut2k4.

Ut2k4 has loads more content really, and a more enjoyable ladder system integrated with the game.

UT3 feels more like UT '99, which was a thousand times better than UT2k4. I personally can't stand how flighty 2k4 feels, and I'm also one of the many who believe that there was a tremendous problem with player-vs-map scaling (player models are too small and too hard to hit directly, which encourages spam). I actually could never play the game longer than half an hour without it killing my wrist. And this is coming from someone who played the original Quake online, so believe me when I say that "flighty" has never been a problem for me. On the other hand, playing an online game with no community is pretty pointless, and paying a lot of money to join in would enfuriate me too, so in this case, it may actually be a good idea to choose value over (in my opinion) quality. And for the record, the UT2k4 community isn't exactly bustling anymore either. To be honest, at this point, I'd probably only fire up a UT game at a LAN. Then again, maybe I'm just that jaded. :P
