Is anybody having a problem with UTIII on XP where as you progress through the map it gets more detail. That is to say that there are large grey areas on the map -- you can't see where people are firing from etc -- but as you get closer the wall, bot or whatever comes into relief. I am not out on the net this is just the bots in the death matches/campaigns.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

yes, and thier is nothing you can do about it...its in the design of the actual engine....your lucky though, in UT3 this problem isnt as noticable...in Mass Effect its bassiclly the first thing you notice.

So how do you use the long range weapons, when you can't see the target that is more than a short distance away

can you show us some pics?

cobra is right in that ut3 streams textures and even models, but it still may not be working as it should if you are seeing grey areas too much.

Screen percentage is set to 100%.

The picture is at http://hotdocsproblems.blogspot.com/

It is the only current post. If this is against the rules, my apologies, but I don't seem to be able to attach the photo.

Is this taken in some wierd area of a map? Reading other replies in this thread I have no clue what people are talking about, I have yet to see anything like this and I have played it a lot. Seems like this would be a video card/driver related problem?

I just recently got the game. I have made it through the first training module and saw nothing like this. In the second training module/campaign, all through the map I have detail only a few "feet" in front of me. As the scene has more "distant" areas my seen looks like the one in the picture.

I have not mucked about with things except to set my weapons to the same key as they are in UT2004.

Thanks. I am mystified.
