Title says it all. I've been married to my 8800GTX since 2007 so it's been a few years out of the loop on video card hardware. Looking to replace it for less than $300, any suggestions for fastest card in that price range? Running windows 7 64 bit.

I am going with the 5770, just seems like the best value at about $120 less than the 5850 and I really don't need the ps. My 8800GTX was doing great for me in all game with graphics turned up pretty high to max, I'm sure I will be happy enough with the 5770.
Thanks all!
5770 is not best value. a 4870 outpeforms it and believe me, the dx11 doesnt do much, because it isnt powerful enough to do max settings on dx11. if you dont need dx11, get the 4890. powercolor on newegg for 150$, and it outperforms the gtx 275 in some tests. id get a 5850 or a 4890
I agree the 5770 will not last that long with maxing out games on the other hand a 5850 will stay on top of most games for about as long as your previos 8800gtx.

nah it will probably wear out as fats as an hd 5870 would which means the second we hit the gtx 300 series (due q1 2010)
I dont think you got what I said I mean that the HD 5850 will probbaly be able to last as long in maxing out games as his 8800gtx did unless ofc you are saying that all system requirements from the time the 300 series come out are going to skyrocket which isnt going to happen.
im saying that they will speed up, once it become and equal fight for dx11 you will stat to see more games welcoming it in.
If you have a crossfire board, you can get 2 5770's :P .

with the promo code: EMCMNNT82
Comes out to a total of $144 per card.
I appreciate the input and the debate, but I am going to stick with it. The fact I already ordered it doesn't help any lol. Really though, I am happy to only spend this amount at this time for a quality card. When the economy picks back up I will be able to afford an upgrade if need be. I bought the 8800GTX when it first came out because I could afford it, right now business is a little slow so $170 is just right. Thanks.
