I just bought a Inno3D 8600GT with 256MB of DDR3 but when I installed it in my computer it registers an Inno3D 8600GT with 512MB. The box, the little sticker in the card all says that it only has 256MB of memory. Is there a software like a CPUZ for video cards or a website where I put the serial number of the card and it will give me the specs?I'mactuallynotcomplainingbut Ireally want to know if the card is working or my computer/motherboard is working fine. I already tested it with C&C3 and Supreme Commander and it works just fine.

(Please,nocommentsaboutwhyIboughta8600andnota8800card.Moneyisprimarythereason. The 8800 costs4x more than an 8600 here.)

run CPU-Z and dxdiag. If they both say the same thing, chances are you have a 512mB card.

I had the same case when I had a 8500GT, it says 256MB on the box, but Windows registers it as 512MB.

I think it's because of the HyperMemory or those crazy features that manufacturers put in that supposably can boost the performance of the card - whatever it is, it won't probably help at all...

I'm actually not complaining but I really want to know if the card is working or my computer/motherboard is working fine. I already tested it with C&C3 and Supreme Commander and it works just fine.

(Please, no comments about why I bought a 8600 and not a 8800 card. Money is primary the reason. The 8800 costs 4x more than an 8600 here.) (Where are all my spaces? Sorry for the repost.)

Yeah right. Yes, Gamespot's message editor does seem to have issues with spacing, but never with more than thanthreewords in a row. :)
