What resolution do you play at ? I ask because theres not reason to buy a $500-$600 card if your resolution isn't very high since a card for a fraction of the price could max your games.well i bought a PC high-end gamer so they call in the shop with Nvidia 9600 GT i want to upgrade it to GeForce 9800 GX2 or GeForce GTX 280

i wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the 9800gx2! If it was still at it's original price, i would agree, but after price drops:

It is now $284.99!
Cheapest 4870x2 is $559 at newegg

this review is a good comparison between the two:

Thanks for help and my resolution is 1280x1024darkigwIf thats your resolution then you need to go no higher than a HD4850 since its alot cheaper than the other cards and should max almost all your games.
thats the highest my monitor can go lol i wonder how i make it higher o.O
edit: maybe i should wait antil Nvidia sets out a new card?you know that one that will over power new ATIs card
darkigw
you talking about the shrink die of GTX280? (New nvidia)
^^can't see that happen for awhile.
Ant yes, your monitor is very old i guess, there is no reason to get a great GPU when you play at very low resolution.
HD4850 will take you very far on 1280*1024. (even HD3850 will do.)
