I just got a 32" lg lcd tv. i saw that it had an rgb input option to view a pc through it. i connected my laptop (which runs windows xp, btw) and upon viewing, everything was streched. i think it had something to do with the widescreen of the tv and the non-wide of the comp. i tried going into properties from the desktop. however, it messed up only the pc's layout rather than affecting anything at all on the tv. any help or tips would be great. thanks!

It all goes down to your LCD TV's input and your graphics card output. Also, depending on your graphics card GPU manufacturer (nVidia, ATI) you should have "multiple display options" or something similar in the display control panel. A bit more information regarding your equipment would help better understand your situation.

You might have the displays mirrored, which would make the TV resolution the same as the laptop screen's resolution, resulting in a stretched image. In your display properties, there should be an option to turn off mirroring, and modify each displays resolution independently.

Also, are you connecting the laptop via VGA? Or some other connection like S-Video, or RCA?

The box says VGA/SVGA connection cable. im outputting from the pc to the monitor. furthermore, everytime i connect to the tv, it only changes whats on my computer. it doesnt let me select the default "plug and play monitor," which is a second option below the default monitor in properties, then settings. it also wont let me change it from 8-bit to the highest color settings. as well, my tv is 16:9, and i dont believe my computer screen is. any ideas? maybe something under advanced settings?
