I am buying it myself(for PS3 though). I loved DA:O, and enjoyed the DA II demo so I kept my preorder.

I am just gonna wait for a Dragon Age 2: Ultimate Edition-because-we-couldnt-call-this-package-a-RPGOTY-edition-as-Skyrim-and-Witcher-2-took-those-honors bundle that includes all the DLC, expansions all being patched up. Shogun 2, Pokemon, Okamiden, Crysis 2 and I just got Bulletstorm to keep me busy.

If you really liked Origins then why not. Reviewers have put this game at "upwards of 50 hours to complete", but it depends on whether you are a completionist or not. I'm sure BioWare won't disappoint on this one, just because they have such a high production value.

Purchase! purchase! purchase!

You do not have to do so now, you can wait for price drop, whatever makes you happy that's what counts.

you will see what community thinks less than 24 hrs from now. I guarantee you at least three screenshots on what were you just playin sticky.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 1/2. However, I decided I will not buy DA2 right away because I was largely unimpressed with the demo (namely the art-style, graphics and the dialogue choices). I will wait for a discount.

I Pre Ordered my copy through Steam and its Pre Loaded and gtg just waiting for Steam to auto patch it with the high res texture pack and yes its totally worth it from playing the demo and it feels just like Origins and its just third person view only which hey that's alright with me. And if you got a DX11 card your gtg for dx11.

Considering how DA Origins was just sold on the EA website with all DLC and expansions for $20, if you are unsure it would probably be a good thing to wait.

This is exactly my view, judging from the demo it seems like a completely different game, and not in a good way.

Just buy it, dude, you know youre going to love it

1. Its Bioware...if Jade Empire is the worst they can do, then I say bring it on

2. Its Dragon Age

3. You obviously enjoyed the first, I'd bet you'd enjoy the second provided you arent some ignoramus that says "Derrrrr this combat aint like da' first, therefore I hate this game"

Lets face it folks, Bioware and EA are an awesome combination.EA lately has really treated the PC gamer well, we have nothing to worry about. Just because you played a demo (a teaser, more likely) with "bad" textures (it was a blighted land, you expected it to be pretty?) does not stand true for the rest of the game.

I for one and almost done preloading. Only two more hours...

Agreed. It's now Tuesday, so it should be unlocked for all of us in the U.S.:D

Got to remember to install the high-res textures I downloaded earlier from BioWare.

Don't know why people stayed on the fence...I saved > $10 by pre-ordering at the right time.

I'm getting it, but unless you have a deal lined up or something, it might be good to wait a couple of days since it's gonna be here very soon. I think it'll be great fun, and even if I don't get the 120+ hours out of it like I did the first, it's sure to be longer than most other new games.

Yeah, I just tried to boot...mine will unlock in 67 minutes...I wanna run it now.

Hey, good news though...the BioWare website is accepting the License Keys given by Steam & Impulse without any problems - got my DA2 registered with them, and the DA2 symbol under my avatar.:D

Got all of the Unlockables too with the Signature Edition - w00t.

I have little patience for linear RPGs these days unless they're incredibly good, and nothing that I've seen or played of da2 gives me the impression that it's incredibly good.

I was planning to wait a bit and see but ended up taking the jump. At the end of the day its a single player RPG from Bioware. They havent let me down yet, so I'm willing to go on a little faith. But if you are torn, simply wait a day or two for the first couple of reviews, that should help give you a feel for what the story is.

Pick the game up in a year or so when price is more in line with game content. Right now 60 dollars + buying a bunch of DLC + dealing with potential bugs and patching is a bit meh. A ultimate edition will come down the road.

Not for $60. Wait a month and you'll find it halfprice online. In 6-8 months it'll be packaged with DA1 for $20. The demo wasn't impressive enough to sell me on day one.

I played about 1.5 hours of DA2 jsut now and, well, its pretty damn awesome

story thus far is good, though it seems more like a collection of side quests at the moment

visuals are amazing, though I have it at highest with Dx11 and the high-res texture pack. Either way, people complaining about "cel-shaded this" and "ugly that" need to simma down now.

combat has been dumbe---, I mean, refined to the point where its a blast to watch. It is much simpler, but the party AI is improved it seems and the pace is faster. People will be upset at the things Bioware removed, butI think it is better. Maybe its just me and getting older, but lengthy combat just isnt my thing any more. DA2's combat is satisfying and to the point, even if it lacks the epicness of the first installment.

party members are likeable so far, if not memorable. But lets be honest, pretty damn hard to follow in Morigan, Allistair, and Leliana's footsteps, no?

This is my first impression so far.

I urge everyone who sees the 8.0 score and thinks "WHAAAAAAA!? No AAAAAA/9.5 rating = no buy for me!" to read the review in full before passing this game up because it lacks the epic score. Two things: first, and 8.0 is an excellent score, even if it does not match the first game; second, points were deducted for just but trivial reasons.

DA2 has everything a fun RPG should have; excellent character progression (both statistically and personally), great NPC interaction, a good story, and lots of bloody fighting with swords and armor and robes and fire and all that good stuff.

Mind =/= blown, but Mind = highly, highly, highly entertained.

I'm waiting until they release the Ultimate Edition or whatever they call. I get this bad feeling they're going to milk this game with as much DLC as humanly possible, rather pay full price for the game then and get all the DLC for free instead of paying full price not and watching all the $5 and $10 items get tossed around like candy.

Thanks for the impressions, bojangles. I feel the same way too: points were deducted for some of the changes from DAO, but in the end it is still a great game. I can't wait to play it myself, my copy is still being shipped :(

Thanks for the impressions, bojangles. I feel the same way too: points were deducted for some of the changes from DAO, but in the end it is still a great game. I can't wait to play it myself, my copy is still being shipped :(

That was a nice little first impression Bojangles! @Ralph.. I'm with ya mate. Gotta wait till Thursday!

As others have stated, I'll be waiting on Ultimate Edition sale on steam for really cheap. Not paying 60$ +cost all DLC they will try to milk out of it.

completely empathize with any feelings of hesitation

but iwth that s aid, its a fun game. Hell,. Ive gotten my 60 bucks worth in the first two hours! Its ust....FUN! It completely feels like they got rid of all the tedious bullcrap that goes with any "serious DnD RPG" and kept all the fun bits, except made them funner to watch! I mean watching mages do combat is like watchiung the best buddhist mionk staff fighter combat a 10 foot tall orgre...except with FIRE!

I understand some people, myself included, appreciate that "tedious bullcrap" to some extent, but dammit....NOT in new games. I expect my games to evolve, to changer, to become smoother, tastier, and just as hearty as the old stuff wi thout the fluff.

If you want to go play a game like Planeascape: Torment, ****, go play Planescape!

/end drunken rant

Sinceerely,

Mr. Bo

PS. Sorry if I offended anyone, its jsut I am so sick and tired of picky eaters. Its just, idunno, I'd sooner eat a really well executed turkey sandwich (DA2) than some ancient standard of excellence (some fancy French meal made from weird ass ingrediants). This is coming from a 9+ year chef by the way
