Vista 64-bit would allow you to use up to 8GB of system RAM (or 32GB of RAM if you bought Business or Ultimate versions). The 64-bit version is required if you intend on running any HD-DVD or BluRay movies on your system (thanks to the **AA's insisting on it). And considering that Vista is supposed to last at least five years, you'll eventually reach a point where you'll need more RAM than the 32-bit OS will support, and at that point, 64-bit will be a must anyway.codezer0
actually ultimate is up to 128 gigs, not that it makes any differance at the moment.
Hardly ever see discounts on retail copies of Windows, short of a rebate with the store... As for the OEM, it's basically tied to whatever motherboard you first install it to. Legally, as soon as you change the motherboard for any reason, you now have to buy a new copy.I'm thinking of getting Vista for my next upgrade too. The retail version comes with both 32 and 64 bit right? You guys know where I can get discount for a retail version? And for OEM, I heard that you can only install it ONCE, is that correct?

That's the reason whyI wanna get the retail version. Maybe I'll just get one from craigslist for like half price and call Microsoft to reactivate the product. It's possible isn't it?
i personally would not make purchases for the future. just buy whatever works best now and worry about the future when it happens.AlexKidd5000But hey, if the retail version includes both, go for it. Use the 32-bit mode now, then when you have a reason to move up to 64-bit, you don't have to go buy another copy all over again.
