Hey all,

I got a pretty decent rig and with Crysis on the horizon I want to make sure I can play it maxed out or as near as poss.
Vista Home Premium
Intel Quad Core 2.66
4 Gig RAM
2 x 768mb Geforce 8800 GTX Cards

The problem is although I have 4GB RAM I only have Vista 32 installed so the system doesn't see it all. It 'sees' about 2.3 Gb of it. Some goes as a buffer for the gfx cards, some it just cant address as it's a 32 bit system.

How critical do you think RAM will be to Crysis?
I have Vista Premium 64 waiting to go on which will use the whole 4Gb but I was going to wait until SP1.

What do you think? Worth changing now or waiting? What's the driver support like now?

Got Vista last weeks, runs everything a charm and have been able to download/install all my software onto 64 bit without any hassles. My computer is pretty much the same as yours only I have a 8800GTS 640mb :). Goodluck with your decision.

the best indication of specs these days is 2gb reccomened for vista. Id be surprised if it was any higher, since thats pretty standard for a high end pc these days. Of course, getting 64 bit and using all your ram would not be a bad thing at all, crysis is supposed to be able to take advantage of such things. Im pretty sure the driver support for the graphics cards at least is well sorted out, maybe therell be other devices (printers, cameras, etc) that arent but theyre irrelevant in this case :P.

2GB of RAM is pretty much a requirement, assuming you want to run games well on the OS. I built my rig about 3 months ago with Vista Ultimate 64-bit installed, and I have yet to encounter a problem.

If you don't mind re-installing Vista (or dual boot?), I'd say go for it. Your hardware is newer, newer chipsets support memory re-mapping, so 64-bit will definitely allow you to take full advantage of your 4GB of RAM!

I've been running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my desktop since April, which can "see" all 4GB of RAM. Haven't had any problems :)

yeah i'd say if u got 64-bit Vista and you can be bothered re-installing your entire system, go for it now. I've been running it for a while and i havnt found any problems with it. its faster than 32-bit IMO.

plus i read that Crysis can supposedly take advantage of 64-bit processors running a 64-bit OS..be nice if that was true. Counter-Strike: Source, HL2 and Lost Coast look way better in 64-bit. heaps more objects.

I'm going to be installing the Crysis demo on Vista 64 and XP when it comes out. I'll knowthe difference then. I have dual boot system right now.

That's the Godliespt PC i've yet to lay my eyes on. How dare you doubt that it wont plow thru any game at all and then have enough power to run bioshock on another screen at the same time.

"Can My PC run this game? *insert $5000 pc specs here*"

YES. IT CAN. moving on.....

Right now the 2.3gb of ram is ok. But as short as a year from now you'll want to upgrade to 64bit vista for the extra ram. I would do it now if I were you. I've been using 64bit vista and all my hardware and games work fine.

I ran into the same problem with my new computer 2 8800 gts in sli and 4 gigs of ram but with vista 32 it can only see 2gigs so i went with 64bit and have had no problems if you paid for the 4 gigs of ram why not use it?
