Okay from what i've heard vista is not worth your money and you should better keep your pc windows xp.
Since im totally noob with vista, what does it improve so far? I've only heard complaints about it so why did they launched this?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
well it just launched so dont expect everything to work, the main reason you want vista is Dx10. you see cryssi and bioshock are dx10 so those are 2 excellent reasons to want to get vista. Also the drivers are now stable enough to warrent a full switch to vista in my opinion, I dont have much trouble with vista at all. Oh and if you dont wana spend 200 on vista ultimate well their other ways to get it aka torrents. filmography

Nothing has improved, in fact it's crap. And DX10 is soooo slooow.BounceDK
Hrmm.. Because I love the new additions that were made for XP compared to 98, and of course the stability was greatly improved. The windowsy settings were a lot more accessable. Vista doesn't have anything? Nothing at all?Â
vis·ta   /vista/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[vis-tuh] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation -noun 1.a view or prospect, esp. one seen through a long, narrow avenue or passage, as between rows of trees or houses. 2.such an avenue or passage, esp. when formally planned. 3.a far-reaching mental view: vistas of the future.
So apprently you will be able to see though a row of trees, Become and Avenue or passage when formally planed and have a far reaching mental view =D
Always there to help

I have purchase Vista for dirt cheap, and will be dual-booting this Summer.
It would be REAL nice to hear from PC gamers running Vista - I don't want to hear you parrot other people's criticisms of Vista. I want first person accounts of PC Gamers' experiences with the new OS that we will all eventually be upgrading to.
Please comment.

Well I've had it for ten years, and it's just terrible. The games all run slower.. the few that run! Compatibility issues, can't run any games, direct X explodes every so often and my computer is constantly crashing. The only reason I still have it is because of that USB plug thing I was speaking about above.Â
I've been using Vista for a few months now and it's not nearly as bad as people say it is.Â
For one, it's suprisingly stable for a new OS and much more secure as well, largely due to UAC. Desktop performance is faster than XP probably due to Superfetch and better management of unused RAM (that's why it uses much RAM when idle). As for gaming, I haven't noticed any performance loss in my games (I've only tested Oblivion, R6 Vegas, STALKER, FEAR and Far Cry).

Graphically it looks way more improved than XP, you can find alot of your files much easier just by typing them in the start menu search box (very convenient), when windows are minimized you can now preview them in REAL TIME just by rolling your mouse over them, files are much more organized, DX10 support, Windows Aero, Media Center is better integrated into the OS, added Windows Media Extender for the Xbox 360, Windows Dreamscene (allows you to have a video playing as a desktop background). I can continue but I'd be going on forever. I mean Vista is not that bad, people just love to jump on the "hate on Vista" bandwagon. As I said before my only gripes with Vista is the application compatibility at the moment, which WILL improve as time goes on. It's a new OS for gods sake give it time...it really aint that bad![QUOTE="Dracunos"][QUOTE="gamer082009"][QUOTE="Dracunos"][QUOTE="BounceDK"]Nothing has improved, in fact it's crap.
