I would assume yes. Vista is a memory-hog I've heard. And seen. There are 12 instances of svchost running on my PC right now, it's crazy and I have no idea why. Had like 2-4 svchost when I was using XP. And none of them was using anywhere near 100MB or RAM...

1GB is barely enough to run games well in XP these days. Make sure you don't mess up your dual-channelness though.

Vista's memory usage may seem alarming at first, but it's not nearly as bad as many think. Vista actually uses all of that memory to cache frequently used programs, so that they start up nice'n'quick. On my PC, Photoshop starts up around 5x faster than it did under XP, thanks to Vista's very smart memory management/usage.

Nevertheless, upgrading to 2GB is definitely a smart idea if you're playing PC games.

I first had a 5300 corsair 1gb it was slow as hell , games lagged all the time.

then i upgraded my CPU.Mobo.and my ram to 6400 Corsair 2 gb and oh man what a change! the games that would lagg runs smoothly now.
