what were your factors in deciding it was a ram issue at all? just curious as you don't give any background info on how that came about as the reason for your issues. I have 4 gig in mine and it runs fine, no that it matters but I guess i'm getting at the fact of are you saying it's vista that is having the issue or that you may just have bad ram?

Exactly, why did you think it was the ram? Is it OCed? Make sure everything is plugged in correctly and properly grounded.

What made you think its the ram?
If you really think its the ram for whatever reason, run memtest86

Uhh, lucky you.

Sounds like you're experiencing the issue where Vista either wont install, crashes during install, or crashes at or soon after loading windows with or without BSOD when over 3gb of ram is installed. I'll post the link for the update required to fix the problem for you.

If you ever have to format again, format with only 2gb installed.

I hate that... I fix so many pc's and I just want to kill myself when I deal with vista.

New vista slogan...

(PC) Designed to work without vista...
