when i boot up with windows in, ill enter the windows setup, and hit next and hit "Install Now"

then it asks me to" Select the driver to be installed". and i get a window that pops up saying

that "A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If i have a driver flippy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: if the windows installation media is i the cd/dvd drive, you can safely remove it for this step.

This is as far as i can go. i would think that thw windows disk would have what i need. then i tried the mother board driver disk and video card disk to see if its that but its not. i dont know what else i could do.

Yeah all you need it's the Windows cd. Just format the HDD and install Windows.

Click on key for the Boot Menu (F8 or something like that, it will appeared on the screen when you power up the pc) and choose to boot from the cd.

It sounds like Vista doesn't support your mainboard chipset and is looking for the boot driver (not the driver you would install after the OS in installed) for it. You should be able to find this on your mainboard manufacturers website.
