I believe system builders refers to OEM software, and regular would probably mean retail version.

Im not positive but i think if you buy OEM you cant call in to micrososft for tech support. Your operating system will also be tied to the motherboard you had in your system when you installed vista. If you swap motherboards in the future you cant use the same OEM disc for your new system.

Really? So when you buy a new motherboard you have to buy another vista?

Actually the only thing that I know of thats different between the retail and the OEM copy is that the OEM version is either 32 or 64 bit whereas the retail copy has both. Everything else is the same.

The OEM copy is tied to one motherboard, so if you get a new motherboard or computer you won't be able to re-use your copy of Vista.

The retail copy can be used as many times as you want, but only on one computer at a time.
