Not in games its not, if you look at benchmarks Vista is currently better in most games due to it having much better driver support currently...this may change in the future but we cant be sure.Windows 7 has a lot better performance though.

Ya Vista will have Dx 11 but at what cost?04dcarraherAbout as much going from Directx 8 to Directx 9

No you don't, not since sp1 actualy, if you play a game on vista with dx9 and a game on xp (dx9 obviously) then the games will perform exactly the same.
Well I have Both Xp and Vista in dual boot, and games that dont need no more then 2gb xp is still faster, Games that can use more then 2gb then they are faster in vista. Overall Xp is still faster then Vista.

In everything i have seen, win 7 has the edge over vista. http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/windows_7_gaming_performance/page16.asp Right now, Windows 7 is kind of a mixed bag. While it was able to beat both Vista and XP in certain applications, it also got beat in others. 3DMark06 gave a clear advantage to XP on both of our test beds, while Vantage favored Vista by about 10%. However, real world performance brought our numbers to a much narrower margin, with Windows 7 performing admirably in both DX9 and DX10 modes. Crysis still favors Vista pretty heavily as it officially trounced Windows 7 by 16 frames per second on average on our high-end test bed. The margin was closed when we take a look at our mid-range setup, when that gap shrunk to a one frame difference.[QUOTE="joshuahaveron"]

To me, going from xp to windows 7 seemed that windows 7 seemed a lot smoother and better performing than xp. I don't mean in games, but just general things, like going through folders and loading up. Windows 7 is a lot faster to boot up than xp, in my opinion anyway.

Maybe its driver problems with my rig, but vista just trumps it in every way. Now, on an old pc that should be running xp... different story.[QUOTE="joshuahaveron"]

dx10 is a disappointment, imo. it could really decrease performance for barely noticeable visual improvements.rock_solidThere is only one game that actually did better in Dx10 over Dx9 and that was Farcry 2.
dx10 is a disappointment, imo. it could really decrease performance for barely noticeable visual improvements.rock_solidIf a programmer developed a game only for DX10 it would perform a lot better than DX9. DX10 is VERY good but developers wont invest the time into it because so many people still had DX9 cards when these games started development (3 years on average). DX11 though is backwards compatible so it SHOULD be picked up and utilized much faster than DX10.
How Op? Have to buy another Video Card that supports DX11 right? Some people don't have the green :(
Don't expect a high adoption rate of dx11 unless a new generation of consoles comes within the next two years or so, and even then we have to hope that they will be traditional consoles like the ps3 and xbox360 which actualy emphasize graphics unlike the wii. If all the console manufacturers decide to release wii like consoles then game graphics will not improve at all.
Well since MS and Sony dont plan on going to a new console until 2011-2012, Dx11 might put Pc on the radar and devs might comeback or popup to be able to use the new tools to being able create their dreams more real looking.04dcarraher
Yeah but the profit margins just aren't there for developers. Almost every game from now on will have a console version.
wrong. if the guys at crytek got a hold of this (and i'm sure they will), we'll get a killer DX11 optimized game in our hands, they'd go nuts with it.Don't expect a high adoption rate of dx11 unless a new generation of consoles comes within the next two years or so, and even then we have to hope that they will be traditional consoles like the ps3 and xbox360 which actualy emphasize graphics unlike the wii.
