Vista is just fine, but it's not something super special that is worth buying just for the heck of it. If you were getting a new PC and needed and OS, I would definitely recommend Vista.
I have been running for close to a year now, Vista Premium 64, without any real problems. But I would not recommend someone just buy and put it on a system that has XP working just fine for it.
Also, what are your specs, high-end PC's run Vista pretty well, most of the people complaining about Vista are trying to run it on inferior machines.
NO, its compatibility is still useless, get vista once you are forced to upgrade, i bought a new computer and i got XP, still not a massive advantage to get vistasomedude34What do you mean that it's compatability is useless?Have you used vista if not how can you know that?
Anyways as to the TC,ya dont upgrade just for the sake of it.Just do it when a game forces you to.

I'm pretty sure you can't play System Shock 2 on Vista, but i can on XP, so win, i guess if your buying a computer you could go either way unless all your other computers are Vista, but i wouldn't go out to the store and buy Vista just because i want an upgrade, and all the people i know have told me nothing positive about Vista, its getting better, but you should still wait until your forces to upgrade.
I totally agree with him. The upgrade from XP to Vista is not agood idea especially if you like XP and you are doing great. But if you are looking to buy new PS then buying Vista wont harm AS LONG AS you have adecent machine so you wont complain about being unable to run recent games.Vista is just fine, but it's not something super special that is worth buying just for the heck of it. Like others said, ive dropped 8-10 FPS average on Crysis when running it on Vista.
( on XP i used the DX10 on DX9 hack poo). Even with 2 gigs of Ram, i notice that i get about 35-45% RAM use for no raisins!!
but other than that Vista is fine if you got a high end PC, running it on a fairly fast computer and been suprise how stable and easy it is for networking and home use.
You have to run crysis in DX9 in vista if you wanna compare it with the performance of XP.You are basically comparing DX10 with DX9 so dont blame vista for that.Like others said, ive dropped 8-10 FPS average on Crysis when running it on Vista.

And secondly yes you eill need 4GB RAM for vista other wise with 2GB it's going to be a bottleneck with a few games.
Many of the benchmarks of XP vs vista gaming performance are using 2GB RAM which is just wrong.
No, unless you're making anew computer from scratch then I say yes. It's pretty pointless to build a new computer and then install a 8 year old OS in there (XP). Vista has very few problems and you really shouldn't worry about it, actually come to think of it I've never ran into any problems... It's a great OS to be frank, I don't know why some people hate on it so much.karasillWell the biggest haters of vista who actually have used it are those with 64-bit.Can you blame vista for this?
Well to an extent yes becasue of the RAM usage of vista if you have something like a 3870X2 or 9800GX2 or some CF or SLI configuration, you really need 64-Bit in that case if you are going to use vista.

I have Vista 64 and I've never ran into a problem and I do have two 3870's on CF. The ram usuage in Vista isn't that bad. Every new OS that comes out uses more Ram. People complained about XP when it first came out. We just have to accept that OS's will get more robust with each new release. We can't make more sophisticated OS's with old hardware. Please Log In to post.
