Hi, Men of War is currently on sale on gamersgate, however the game of the year edition does not activate on steam.

This may be a silly question but I want to make sure, as to not waste money.

If i play Men of War off steam, does this still use the exact same servers as those playing on steam?

Furthermore is this the same for all games? thanks

Yes, MoW isn't supported by Valve, any MoW game and any version of the same game uses the same servers/multiplayer system.

I don't know of any game that uses different multiplayers systems for the Steam version, except Dungeon Defenders that retail uses gamespy, but for achievements and such and ranked play you need to activate it on Steam anyway, so that too isn't really an exception since you will have to add it to Steam for extra benefits.
