It may be a stupid question.

Does if affect performance of your PC to have too many games installed on your hard drive??

I have Windows XP and a hard drive of around 150G (72 of them arre not used right now), I have right now installed the following games: Oblivion (with expansion), Starcraft, Crysis, Titan Quest (I love this game), CNC3, Bioshock and Steam with the HL2 and Orange box installed.

I want to get Stalker, Company of Heroes and COD4 , but a friend of mine told that that to have to many games installed will slow the performance of my computer. Is it true? I have a P4 3.4G with 2 SDR2 and a 8800 GT.

Thanks for your opinion

well, the more you have on your HDD in general is going to affect performance, since it will have more information to sort through. it prolly won't be a drastic performance hit, but the more thats on there, the longer it will take for larger files to load. Defrag your drive regularly and anything that you don't need on there you should take it off.

ok, so it does affect the performance....uhhh.... I still play all those games, so it is hard for me to delete one of them. I will probably delete some of the steam games that I don't use know (HL2 cs:S...)

Computer performance will be affected if you do not have about 25% free space. Personally I have a separate drive for all my games, music, and documents. I only have the OS and any required software on my "C" drive. Some required software includes drivers, AV program, anti-spyware programs, CrapCleaner, Open Office, burner programs, ZIp/RAR programsetc. Makes it easier to keep clean and defrag works wonders. With the low cost of HDD's it is an easy solution.

I use AVG free myself, but I never have it running unless I'm doing a scan and I'm not familiar with Symatec so I can't really comment on it.

Is AVG still free? Or you have to pay something for it?

You should turn your anti-virus software off while gaming if you are worried about losing performance.
