Too bad, I already gave all mine away.
In case you can't get one, for around $2 you can get one. Surely you can afford $2. ;)

As for an online multiplayer game without fees, can't go wrong with Guild Wars, but WoW it ain't.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. ;)
Guild Wars pvp was about 1000x more enjoyable for me than WoW's Wow's pve was similarly 1000x more enjoyable than Guild Wars'RT_Jackson

Ok,I consider myself pretty much an mmo expert,i've played every single major mmo besides the older ones(ultima online, meridian 59,etc...)so here's my take on this topic:
World of Warcraft: WoW is the powerhouse and anyone who denies it is just a fanboy for their own favourite mmo.It is incredibly polished, has an amazing amount of content, and is overall a pretty fun mmo experience. The monthly fee gets lots of complaints but you get what you pay for and WoW is worth $15 a month.Yes,it's pvp is lacking so if you are a major pvp'er then you might want to look elsewhere but overall the good outweighs the bad.
Guild Wars: Gonna admit right off the bat, its pve is lacking but its pvp rocks. No monthly fee makes it a worthwhile investment and its low level cap means that you won't be stuck in the high level grind like most other mmo's. If you want pve then you will not like this game as much as others but if you're into pvp than I highly recommend this one.
Lord of the Rings Online: Lotro is the casual mmo on the market. At level 10 you unlock the game, simple as that. See, in WoW, you have to level 70 to really start to experience the game. At level 10 in Lotro you unlock everything other than high level gear and such, so things like monster play( Lotro's pvp) are unlocked for you. It doesn't take a grueling amount of time to get to the cap but if you want to level up a little bit and then fish or just take in the rich scenery of the world than you won't be outcast like in other mmo's. Excellent graphics and an amazing community just help Lotro's reputation. Pvp aspects are lacking heavily so if you want pvp, look elsewhere, simple as that. Plus, if you are a hardcore player then you might not enjoy the storyline type questing.
So, in closing:
WoW: Great pve,not so great pvp.
GW: Great pvp, not so great pve.
Lotro: A nice pve experience but not the greatest for hardcore players, and very very lacking pvp.
If you want a game that will last a long time and you don't mind a monthly fee then go for WoW. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee then go for GW. I recommend staying away from Lotro unless you really like the world of J.R.R. Tolkien.
I'd give GW a shot. It's come down a lot in price as well. I'd just buy the first one and play it for a while. If you like it you can buy the additional ones. I had fun while I played it. It`s still a solid game for someone who doesnt want to pay per month.
I played GW since the Alpha (yeah, with the wowish graphics) and it WAS an amazing game up untill Nightfall. I've never played a more challanging MMO. I've only been through Hyjal in WoW, but I felt like all the GW missions were, at least, around Kara. level if done at proper level and gear. This created a very fun and intricate group experience in PvE where you were basically raiding every mission (and they could take up to three hours, especially the later ones like the ring) [SIDE NOTE: to anyone that wants to say 'lol, missionz r ezy' allow me to clarify that I am talking about the game's start when people couldn't use some of the upgrades they can now].
This, however, doesn't exist in the game anymore. With heros and 'better' henchies you'll be playing a single player game with an intricate chat room. The more challanging missions require cookie-cutter builds, so if you roll a class you think is fun but doesn't fit into the mold you're screwed.
There is no real gear progression. I beat nightfall with my paragon without the max armor, so you can see gear doens't make a huge difference. There are a ton of skins but no stat. upgrades. This creates a 'skill' based environment (though, arguably, an environment of who can follow pre-written wiki steps) but leaves very little to work for if you don't care about slight and, in my opinion, unimpressive visual upgrades.
The game is definetly worth a shot for the experience but I wouldn't expect to get absorbed in it.
Thanks for the help guys. i got a trail key for guild wars so i give it ago but i prob end up going back to playing WoW.ellandroad_man
Oh well.
Well maybe when GW2 comes out, you can give that a try and maybe you'll like that one better. Of course, that will be a little while now.
