Toothpaste. Seriously.
you don't need a cd to play online anymore (1.21b) just your own cd key... borrow off a friend or by other meansbig_al123
He said that he needs to install the game not that he wants to play online. Read the post next time.
You should try rubbing toothpaste on the scratch. I've heard that it actually works.
ok here is a fix that will work 100% of the time
1) take cd and put toothpaste on the scratches covering them.
2) take some olive oil and smother that over the entire cd
3) take a thin layer of tin foil and put it on the top side of the cd but NOT the bottom
4) place in microwave for 2:40
and the game will work again
GL ;)

Next time I have a scratched disk, I'll do this when my parents aren't home.

This guy is messing with you. It's like saying "Did you overheat your videocard? Just cool it in ice cold water (make sure it's ice cold or else the water will mess up the electronics) and it should be fine after 3 minutes".
