put the cd in the freezer for like 10mins then try. i know it sounds crazy but its worked for me before.

You could always borrow the game from someone else and use your cd key... or if you want even download the image from the net and put in the cd key (which you got with your LEGAL copy, heh)

I would try toothpaste, too. Unless it is scratched from the other side, then it is hopeless.

you don't need a cd to play online anymore (1.21b) just your own cd key... borrow off a friend or by other means

He said that he needs to install the game not that he wants to play online. Read the post next time.

You should try rubbing toothpaste on the scratch. I've heard that it actually works.

ok here is a fix that will work 100% of the time

1) take cd and put toothpaste on the scratches covering them.

2) take some olive oil and smother that over the entire cd

3) take a thin layer of tin foil and put it on the top side of the cd but NOT the bottom

4) place in microwave for 2:40

and the game will work again

GL ;)

that is why you MUSt cover it with oil! the oil will protect it well the tinfoil focuses the energy along with the toothpaste to fix it.

This guy is messing with you. It's like saying "Did you overheat your videocard? Just cool it in ice cold water (make sure it's ice cold or else the water will mess up the electronics) and it should be fine after 3 minutes".

my warcraft cd also had some problems a few mounths ago,(well it exploded inside the driver but thats more of a blog material then a post) all i had to do was download a iso for the frozen throne game(remember that it is legal once you already own a original copy of the game) and burn a backup ins case i want to delete/reinstall the game sometime on the future(last patch removed the need for a cd to play Warcrafy so you wont need to crack the game)

It does work, but it depends on how serious the scratches are.
