I admit I'm a relic fanboy :P. 

Big letdown when i saw that it was StarCraft II and not Warcraft IV :evil: ffs why start on a really good story and not finish it!?!?!Spartan_Dude

I've played both Warcraft III & Starcraft!  To tell you the truth, both are great games!  One is set up in a futuristic sci-fi fantasy & the other is in a medieval fantasy!  Gameplay is also a bit different, in the sense that now in Warcraft III you have actual heroes that level up & can have items in their inventory.  Both are worth checking out! 

If there's a Walmart near you, get both the games there!  Starcraft is going for $19.87 & Warcraft III Battle Chest is going for $39.87!  A week ago they had Warcraft III Battle Chest on sale for $27.87 so that's not too bad! 

The package for Starcraft comes with Starcraft & Starcraft Broodwars & the Warcraft III package comes with Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos & Warcraft III: Frozen Throne.

Warcraft!!!!!!!!!!!  Don't get starcraft if you want to play online. Most people hack on starcraft and since the game is what 10 years old, battle.net focused on banning hackers on warcraft, NOT starcraft.

 Single player, i liked warcraft better, its more adventureful and crap with the heroes/itmes/mercs and whatnot. 

Really it depends on you. Both are great games. Both have strong single player components. the major differences are mutliplayer. Starcraft is a macro game. You build bases and bigger armies. Also it only becomes micro (managing your units) intensive when you get higher level. Macroing means managing your bases where to build etc carefully.

Warcraft 3 on the other hand is much more difficult to get into. However it can be way more rewarding. The game focuses on leveling up your heroes. You get items for them through killing monsters. This is micro intensive. At same time you have to build your base and scout the map for your enemy. It takes time to learn the game. People on battle.net are good but you get paired up with people your level.

However you will get your ass kicked, everyone gets their ass kicked though. In conclusion Warcraft 3 is more micro oriented, while Starcraft more macro. They are both great games, and choosing one over the other depends on your style. Do you want space combat with bigger armies, or medeival type with more races and more micro.

Also Warcraft 3 is 3D and Starcraft 2D. The choice is yours and yours alone.

I played and loved Starcraft back when it came out untill 2001 or so because i was in military school, and that's all you would do to have fun or smoke up or drink.  I loved starcraft, melee, custom games (Golems omg, and marine) but the custom games in Warcraft 3 are much more fun, the Tower Defenses, and Defense of the Ancient (DoTa) Make Warcraft 3 much more fun and have a lot more replay value especially because it is a lot less outdated than starcraft which has a more up to date nice resolution UI and easy on the eyes.  And once you learn how to do good with the hero system, it actually dosen't seem so foreign and actually seems something you want to get into and have fun with as that opens a whole new way of playing custom games (again DoTa is so much fun)

I can play dota for HOURRSSSSSS, so much fun.  Go play DoTa, I only hope they have Dota in Starcraft 2.  They probably will since there's so many hardcore fans of it, I mean they even have CAL leagues for dota, and it's just a custom map for warcraft 3, but hey.  Count Strike was just a mod for Half Life 2, and more people play Counter Strike than they do Half Life.  Which seems to be same case for Dota and Warcraft 3.

lmfao, no i didn't get banned on 2142, i just stopped playing.  when you don't play for a long while, you get taken off the leaderboard.  but i still have all my stats, if i played right now and continued for a bit then i would be back on the leaderboard.  no i'm not banned.

Starcraft. First will always be the best. Plus I much prefer SC's world and story, and units. I wasn't really a WC fan until I played WoW honestly. WC3 never reall sucked me in like SC did.
