ummm... dow1... just kidding ^^

dow2 is pretty darn good online, especially the teamgames, because you have to look out for eachother...

WC3 was never a hit, kinda strange... Im a huge WC2 fan, I liked SC alot, but WC3 just left me with a bad taste in my mouth...

Dawn of War 2 IMO. I am usually not into games where you just level up your characters, but the insane amount of items you can get and insane amount of side missions you can have make it a kick azz game. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself addicted to this game to get to the next level. Your captain becomes like a god towards the end which makes you want to keep playing. There is so much to this game it is hard to explain.

I like Dawn of War 2's real multiplayer games.. Though Warcraft 3's user map setting maps alone is worth it, I seriously have played dozens of hours playing things like Defense of the Ancients, Element tower defense etc etc.. BTW, you can get Dawn of War 2 for as little as $30 at amazon.com from a merchant brand new.

As much as a love Warcraft III multiplayer, I am going to say DoW II even though I only played the multiplayer beta a while back.

War 3 has a lot more variation that DoW 2, with all its awesome mods like Vampire, DOTA, Tower Defense etc and there are A LOT of players, especially for DOTA and Tower Defense (overall it pretty much has over 160K players online at any time, original + all it's mods, tho "nobody" really plays War 3, only 6 or 7K :P). DoW 2 is awesome, especially its singleplayer, I just got it two days ago and it's extremely good :), the multiplayer I don't really like, but who knows, I might like it, since multiplayer I played only when it was in beta. IMO get DoW 2 if you want an awesome sp campaign like Relic usually does, and a decent multiplayer that you seem to enjoy a lot, but if you want to play mostly multiplayer get War 3, especially since DOTA and TD are extremely fun or if you want you can also play it as an RTS tho it's not that good compared to the user made mods :).

I recommend WarCraft III, especially since you said you're getting it primarily for MP and W3 seems to have more depth and thus more replayability.

Dawn of War II (I prefer DOW 1) is a great game but there is a chance you will get burnt out on the gameplay. Warcraft III has a great singleplayer experince, but the multiplayer is by far the best for any RTS on the market. The easy to use editor has allowed endless variations of custom games for Battlenet. You might be playing a story mode map where you control an entire faction on one of the three continents in the Warcraft world and have to battle through the scourge, burning legion, or create your own set of events to beat out twelve other players. And the next game you could be playing through a thorough RPG and even be able to save your character for later use. This is why the Battlenet still hosts a very active player base with a strong mapping communtiy. Because of the wide variety of maps and different types of games you will find WC3 a better pick.

Yeah I liked a lot of Warcraft III mods, but I couldn't really get into DoTA for some reason.

Agreed. WC3's campaign is not bad, but a lot of custom WC3 map makes the game worth the purchase. DoTA and TD were the reason I purchased the Battlechest. lol. If you choose to buy it, get the 'Marvel TD' and 'All Stars DoTA' maps.

Dow 2 is loads of fun but War III is one of my favorite RTS games ever. You really should own the Battlechest with Frozen Throne.

Warcraft 3 and to relax you can play some maps made by other players...

Tower Defense, RPG's (some of them are very well done), Dota, minigames and many more :D
